Allocations included 82B St Philips Marsh, 84K Wrexham, 81C Southall, 87H Neyland, 87G Carmarthen, 87A Neath (Court Sart) and 87F Llanelly from where it was withdrawn in October 1965. Scrapped at Cashmores Newport in February 1966. Face restored.

Nameplate LOCH EIL OUTWARD BOUND ex BR Diesel Class 37 37413 built by English Electric Vulcan Foundry as works number 3536 and delivered to British Rail in 1965 as D6976. Renumbered 37413 under the Tops Scheme and named Loch Eil Outward Bound until September 1997, the nameplates were carried from 03/1987 to 09/1997. Rectangular cast aluminium, the nameplate is in totally ex loco condition, complete with original D.B.Schenker Certificate.

With a fine quality Swiss made chronograph movement and dial enamelled L&NWR, with seconds, minute dials and stop watch function, top wound and lever set. In excellent working condition, a rare quality watch.

GWR brass cabside numberplate 1447 ex Collett 0-4-2T. Built at Swindon in 1935 and numbered 4847, renumbered 1447 in 1946. Allocations included 81F Oxford, 89A Oswestry, 81B Slough, 88B Radyr, 89B Croes Newydd and 86C Hereford from where it was withdrawn in March 1964. Cut up at Swindon Works in July 1964. Face restored and rear original.

The building of this locomotive was sub-contracted out by Hunslet to the Yorkshire Engine Company (YE2548-1954) but it carried Hunslet plates. LMS oak cased mantel railway clock. The 3.5in silvered dial is marked ENFIELD LMS 17165, the case also has a BR-WR numberplate 4904 pinned to the underneath. The going barrel movement has recently been cleaned and oiled and is in good working condition. The case measures 5in tall x 6in wide x 3.5in deep. A delightful small clock from the Gloucester/Worcester Midland Railway lines that were transferred over to the Western Region of British Railways.

Somerset and Dorset Railway 10-inch oak cased iron dial railway clock with a spun brass bezel supplied by one of the Midland railway clock suppliers circa 1880. The quality early English fusee movement in recently cleaned and overhauled condition has rectangular plates which are held together by turned shaped pillars, all of these features point to a movement made in the period 1870 to 1890. The White enamel painted dial rewritten by the Western region of British Railways, displaying bold Roman numerals and the legend BR-W, the case is made from English oak and retains its original LMS brass oval numberplate 10770, this number puts it in a batch of S&DJR clocks from LMS number 15xx to 108xx. A rare timepiece from a famous line. In full working condition complete with pendulum and keys.

Great Eastern Railway Sykes Lock and Block mahogany cased instrument for PARK with brass plaque makers plate W R SYKES. Park signal box was later renamed Northumberland Park in 1923. This instrument was retained at the Stratford S&T store and was purchased by the vendor when it closed. In original condition and appears complete, rare to see a GER instrument of this type.

French locomotive headlamp from the former SNCF steam depot at Bordeaux St. Louis, the principal station that linked Bordeaux to Le Verdon, a line that closed completely in 1978, the line having been shortened by 900 metres in 1968. Standing a full 22in tall, with a front lens diameter of 11in, this, ex-service condition headlamp is complete with copper chimney and brass embellishments. Brass plated BORDEAUX St. LOUIS and S.N.C.F. 3715 4, the lamp retains its original paraffin reservoir, burner and glass

The rectangular case measures 9.5in tall x 7in wide x 4in deep has a rectangular glazed door to the front and a door with fretwork to the rear. The original LNWR enamel numberplate 4802 is screwed below the rear door. The French manufactured pendulum movement by Japy Frere CIE is in good clean working condition. The original painted dial is marked John Walker 1 South Molton St L.N.W.R To H.M. The King. In full working condition with pendulum and key.

Allocated to 9A Longsight, it was withdrawn from Crewe in January 1986 and then stored at Derby RTC for several years. Cast aluminium letters on original steel back plate which is stamped LH2. GWR mahogany cased 18inch double dial railway station clock. The large plated brass chain driven fusee movement has all the internal motion work present for the slave dial and is in good clean working condition. Both dials have been repainted during the 1930's with the GWR roundel design logo and the original mahogany case with segmented surround still retains its original GWR ivorine numberplate 944. A substantial and rare timepiece in excellent working condition complete with pendulum and key.

Nameplate BOAR OF BADENOCH ex BR Class 60 diesel 60100. Built by Brush Traction in December 1992 and was the last ever British Built mainline diesel locomotive. Named the same month Boar of Badenoch after the mountain range in the Grampians near Dalwhinnie, unnamed in May 2003. In ex loco condition, complete with E.W.S. Authenticity Certificate.

Cardiff Railway 12in oak cased chain driven fusee railway clock. The oak case with eight piece surround has two side doors and a bottom door secured with the typical GWR ball bearing catch. The GWR ivorine numberplate 1190 is screwed onto the left hand side and the rear of the case is hand painted CRC18. The large A frame chain driven fusee movement is in good clean condition. The original dial with GWR in block style has visible as ghosted writing Cardiff Railway Co Spiridion & Son Cardiff. Totem BR(M) FF QUEENSFERRY. From the station on the Chester to Holyhead main line between Chester and Rhyl. Opened as Queens Ferry by the Chester & Holyhead Railway on 1st May 1848, it was situated near where a ferry linked the Wirral with North Wales across the River Dee. London Midland & Scottish Railway 9 carat gold presentation watch. In a hallmarked Dennison case with a Swiss made 15 jewel movement with top wind and top set. Rear of the case is hand engraved Presented to Mr H. Nicholls by the staff of LMS Rly Goods Dept Kirkgate Station Wakefield July 1939. The case bears hallmarks for 375 (9 carat), Birmingham 1935/6. In full working condition complete with original box. What makes this watch really interesting is all the paperwork that is included with it, including his LMS certificate of Identity (Retired Staff) card, letters of appreciation from the LMS and a newspaper cutting from the Wakefield Express announcing his retirement and presentation of the watch.

Preston & Wyre Railway 12in mahogany cased fusee railway clock. The mahogany case with eight piece surround has one side door and a bottom door secured by a brass turn, the later LMS oval brass numberplate 9095 is screwed onto the side. The rectangular plated fusee movement has shaped shoulders and pillars with central turned rings. The original dial is lettered MELLING P&WRY NO69 PRESTON. Maryport &. Carlisle 14 inch. Dial wall mounted weight driven wall railway clock, ex Brayton Station Signal Box. The brass weight driven movement has rectangular plates, turned pillars with central rings and is mounted on a seat board, the pendulum has a flat steel rod with a brass bob. The Dial with subsidiary second dial is marked with the supplier's name of W. Wilson Maryport and the oak case with chisel to the base retains its enamel LNWR numberplate 5668, inside the door is inscribed various markings including R Norman 9/5/60-18/3/61 Denys Brayton 22-5-33. The clock was acquired in 1967 when the signal box was closed. A superb timepiece from this relatively small railway company, in working condition complete with weight pendulum and key.

The ached top case with brass carry handle and brass feet is in excellent condition and has its original LNWR enamel numberplate 4553 fixed to the rear. The bottom of the case is also stamped 4553. The case measures 9in tall x 7in wide x 5in deep. The enamelled convex dial is lettered L&NWR in a scroll style. The French manufactured pendulum movement by Japy Frere CIE is in good clean working condition. The LMSR clock records show this clock as being located at Euston Electrical Engineers Office, Superintendent Marine Engineer, Planning Officer Stoke, and Euston House. Original oil painting on board Chee Dale by Carl Henderson GRA. Painted in 1994 the painting shows the down Midland Pullman passing Chee Dale near Buxton in the 1960's on its journey from St. Pancras to Manchester Central. The train would have passed this site at about 6pm and this is depicted by a late, low, intense sun which gives a golden glow to the sky and long shadows. Painting size is 39in x 25in and the frame size 43in x 29in. Included is a letter from the artist giving details of the painting, an article from the Yorkshire Post showing the painting on display at the 1996 GRA exhibition at the NRM and an artist review from Railway Magazine.

GWR brass cabside numberplate 2069 ex Dean 0-6-0 PT built at Wolverhampton in 1899. Allocations included 87G Carmarthen and 6C Birkenhead Mollington Street from where it was withdrawn in April 1959. Scrapped at Swindon Works in May 1960. In lightly face restored condition complete with class and boiler stampings in the rim.

MS&L 12in convex dial mahogany cased chain driven fusee railway clock. The mahogany case with a one piece turned surround has one side door and a bottom door. The rectangular plated movement with shaped shoulders and ringed pillars has chain drive to the fusee. The original convex dial is lettered I.Simmons, 9 St Anne's Sqe Manchester 216 and visible as ghosted writing is LNER 7400. A full account of this clocks restoration by DR D.R.Parr accompanies the lot as well as copies of the LNER records which show it was in use at Scawby and probably dates from around the opening in 1849. In working condition with pendulum and key. An important railway clock as there are few convex dial examples known to survive.

London & North Western Railway Illustrated Address to Elijah Copping on his retirement from the Police Detectives Department April 1904. Framed and glazed 20.5in x14.5in with very attractive design colours plus interesting signatures. Elijah Copping is mentioned in the BTP records as having helped investigate the murder of Thomas Hibbs in 1902 and had also taken part in the investigation into the murder of Detective Sergeant Robert Kidd in 1895 and helped to bring his killers to justice. On reverse (also glazed) is a LNWR advertisement for Omnibuses To / From Euston Station to Charing Cross (SE&CR), Waterloo (L&SWR) plus Family Parties, each with times and prices.

LBSCR 14in oak cased chain driven fusee railway clock 183B. The original dial repainted post 1948 by John Walker of London is in good condition. The English chain driven fusee movement has shaped plates and turned pillars and is in good clean condition. 183B was supplied in 1851 to The London Brighton and South Coast Railway by William Wright of Tooley Street London and the Southern Railway records show it was last in use at Brighton (London Road) platform. Prior to that Dorking North and Victoria Station. In working condition complete with pendulum and key.

GWR combined nameplate and numberplate PLYMOUTH 3353 GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY SWINDON WORKS ex Dean Bulldog 4-4-0 built at Swindon in 1900 as No 3365. Renumbered 3353 in 1912 and renamed Pershore Plum with a standard pattern curved nameplate in 1927. The plate is stamped in the rim with engine and boiler class and also stamped in the back 3365. The number 3353 in brass and steel has been riveted over the original number. A superb plate that has never appeared at auction before.

These are often sold as a Bagnall type whistle but are thought to be used on Steam cranes as well.
