Worksplate North British Locomotive Coy Hyde Park Works Glasgow number 24779 dated 1942. Circular brass, ex Ministry of Supply (War Department) 2-8-0 later class 8F Locomotive WD 562. Taken into LMS stock in 1943 and numbered 8275 becoming 48275 under BR. Initially allocated to Heaton Mersey and spending most of its life there, it did see a short period at Buxton. Ex loco condition.

LNER steel 6' rule housed in a wooden box clearly stamped LNER Whessoe Lane - Darlington. An unusual item not seen before. Whessoe Road is the site of the original Stockton & Darlington Works that transferred from Shildon to Whessoe Road in 1863 by which time the S&D had merged with the North Eastern Railway.

Great Northern Railway 3 aspect Handlamp complete with L&NER reservoir and BR burner. The reducing cone is stamped 'GNR A4/04' and also has the number around the side '16387'. The number stamped on the lamp side is 1511 indicating a marriage, no doubt carried out by the railway themselves at some time. A delightful lamp, tastefully restored.

British Railways Pocket Watch by Limit (No 2), Swiss Made. Face has the second hand in the lower half and bears the initials BR(W) and the number 03812. The rear case has had a spare fitted at some time, by the railway and is engraved GWR with the number 0.2231. The face bears no damage and the watch is in full working order.

A South Eastern Railway official leather document case, nicely embossed S.E.R. Dec 20 1885, this was probably used to convey official documents for the opening of a station or line, in totally original condition complete with key for the lock. A stunningly rare item the likes of which have not been seen before.

Worksplate, Beyer Peacock & Co Ltd , No 6682 ex GWR Pannier Tank 8702, built in 1931 her sheds included St Phillips Marsh, St Blazey, Newport Ebbw and lastly Herford from where she was withdrawn in May 1964 and then cut up at Swindon in June 1964. The worksplate has been face restored but the back retains its original patina.

NER 12 fusee Mahogany cased drop dial clock, the original dial lettered LNER 5125 and ghosted W.POTTS & SONS LEEDS. The fusee movement is in good clean working condition , the drop of the case has a nice Flame mahogany veneer and the clock is in excellent overall condition, Research show that it was located at York in the Chief civil engineers accounts office. A nice early example dating from the latter part of the 19th Century.

Qty 3 Pocket Watches in need of attention. The first is an LNER enamel faced Limit, rear of case engraved L.N.E.R. 4342. The second hand is missing and the face has chips at 10 and 4 o'clock. The second is an LMS Swiss Recta with second hand. The rear of the case is engraved L.M.S 12606. The third is a BR(M) Swiss Phenix with second hand. Rear of case engraved BR(M) 21425. This one works for a while then stops.

Large cast model of LMS locomotive 6220 CORONATION on original wooden plinth. Believed to be one of just a few made for the LMS Directors to commemorate the visit of LMS Pacific 'Coronation' to America in 1939 (actually 6229 Duchess Of Hamilton in disguise) for the World Fair. An extremely rare item, whether any others survived is not known. Painted in original colours of maroon and straw.

Totem, BR(M) BOURNVILLE, F/F. Ex Midland Railway station on the old Birmingham & Gloucester Railway line south of New Street. Site of the world famous Cadbury factory and of course the old Bournville MPD. Deep colour and shine with a couple of small, expertly repaired chips. An extremely scarce totem, photographic evidence suggesting only two on the station and this is the only 'known' one, GWRA having sold this some years ago for the first time.

North Eastern Railway, Bracket clock with a going barrel movement which strikes on a Gong manufactured by Winterhalder and Hofmeier of Germany, supplied By Potts of Leeds . Oak cased with intricate carving and a silvered dial with black wax filled numerals. Stands 12 high and is 8 at widest, 6 deep. The rear door opens to reveal a label inscribed W. Potts & Sons Watch & Clockmakers, Leeds with various inscriptions including Mar 1921, Aug 1904. There is an additional, railway label showing it to be from the General Managers Office, Telecoms Centre, Room 11, Basement MHQ, York. Recently overhauled by 'Clock Tower, Morecambe' and guaranteed for 1 year from 21st September 2007. A lovely clock in extremely good condition. Note: Winterhalder and Hofmeier are possibly the most famous of the German Victorian clockmakers. The firm was started by Anton Winterhalder in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810, taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the business finally closing on the death of Winterhalder's last son Linus in 1910. A large part of their output was made for Britain and the quality of movements and cases is always very high as seen in this example.

Worksplate, Hudswell Clark & Co Ltd Railway Foundry Leeds, England, number DE 1075 dated 1959. Oval brass engraved, face cleaned. Ex Manchester Ship Canal 430hp 0-6-0DE named ALNWICK CASTLE at a ceremony outside the Dock Office 18/3/59. Unusual as most plates simply have a single letter D prefix. Sold and could recently be found at Winfield Shoe Co. Ltd., Hazel Mill, Blackburn Road, Acre, Rossendale.

Nameplate ZANZIBAR, ex LMS Jubilee Class Locomotive numbered 5638, later 45638. Built Crewe in December 1934 and allocated at Longsight until 1960 when a move to Llandudno Junction took place. After a short stay on the N Wales coast route, a brief spell at Crewe and Warrington and then a return to Crewe until withdrawal in 1964 being cut up at the Works in April of that year. A wonderful Jubilee plate and a unique opportunity to own the only nameplate with the letter 'Z' appearing twice.

GWR, large, 9 tall EPNS Coffee Pots bearing the GWR Roundel logo. Reputedly, and confirmed by the purchaser of the actual coach, these were used to serve coffee to HM The Queen Mother on the occasion of the last use of GWR Saloon number 9001 by a member of The Royal Family in March 1968. These large size coffee pots are certainly uncommon. The logos are well worn from extreme polishing fit for Royalty.

Totem, BR(W) BATH GREEN PARK, H/F. Ex Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway station, home of the S&D and arguably one of the top totems ever. A lovely example, probably the best of the few that have ever come to market. It retains the top mounting bracket and has excellent colour and shine with minimal defects from actual use. Not to be missed.

Smokebox Numberplate 45034. Ex LMS Class 5 4-6-0 Locomotive built by the Vulcan Foundry under works number 4579 in 1934. Allocations include Rugby, Crewe South, Monument Lane and Speke Junction. Survived almost until the end of steam being withdrawn in 1968. Superb, ex loco condition just as it was removed from the loco and taken into possession by the Speke Junction Shed Master. A small number of quality, b/w photographs accompany.

Manchester Sheffield & Lincoln Railway, Grimsby Docks Metropolitan Police Whistle complete with chain. A magnificent and very scarce item, beautifully engraved 'M.S.& L.Ry Grimsby Docks 7'. Also bears the makers name 'J. Hudson & Co 131 Barr Street, Birmingham. Research shows that only 20 policemen were employed by this company at Grimsby Docks and this is the only whistle of this nature to have survived. A unique opportunity for the whistle collector.

LNER A4 brass three-tone chime Whistle carried by A4 Pacific 4-6-2 Locomotive LORD FARRINGDON. Built at Doncaster Works No. 1877 in July 1938 and originally named PEREGRINE. Renamed LORD FARINGDON in March 1948. Renumbered LNER 34 in November 1946 and became BR 60034 in March 1948. A Kings Cross engine until October 1963 when it was transferred to St Margarets Edinburgh for a brief spell, ending up at Ferryhill, Aberdeen from where withdrawal took place in August 1966. Nameplate SIR DURNORE, ex SR King Arthur Class 4-6-0 Locomotive. Built Eastleigh in October 1926 by the Southern Railway to Maunsell design and numbered 802, later 30802 by British Railways. Allocations include Ashford and Stewarts Lane. Withdrawn in July 1961. Sir Durnore was thought to be the alternative spelling of Sir Dornard who was son of King Pellinore, brother of Agglovale, Lamorak, Percival and Torre.

Fine linen measuring 12 x 8, this delightful item bears the following inscription: The enclosed towel is issued for the convenience of the passenger, with the compliments of the Great Western railway Company. The company respectfully request that the passenger will kindly replace it in the bag provided and leave it on the rack of the compartment on completion of the journey. Excellent condition and of considerable scarcity.

Peckett Loco Lamp complete with original reservoir and burner and retaining the red, slide-in colour changer. Top chimney bears the brass makers plate 'Peckett & Sons Ltd, Engineers, Bristol'. Front bullseye lens has a crack obtained in service. An uncommon lamp that has been repainted matt black with a white cowl interior.

LMS Hotels china Egg Cups, qty 4 with Serving Dish. The Dish has a typically English thatched cottage with flower garden covering half of the surface, the rest being delicately coloured and finished with orange rim decoration. It has the tiniest of rim chips at 11 o'clock. Beneath is the makers name 'Royal Venton Ware - J.Steventon & Sons, Burslem' and 'LMS Hotels' inscribed. The central hole is fitted with an EPNS lifting handle. The Egg Cups have a floral design, 3 of the 4 Rose & Pansy, the 4th Fresia and Bluebells. No markings beneath but the rim finish indicates these are originals. One Egg Cup has a rim chip.

Smokebox numberplate 32346. Ex LBSCR K class 2-6-0 Locomotive, designed by L.B.Billington and one of the small class of only 17 locos built between 1913 and 1921. All of the class survived into BR ownership and were withdrawn pretty much simultaneously between November and December 1962. Allocated for most of its life at Three Bridges. An excellent chance to acquire a sought after class. It is in as removed condition, with the correct BR(S) triangle cast into the back.

Worksplate The English Electric Company Ltd., London, Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns Ltd., Locomotive Works, England number 3069/8323 - 1962. Ex Type 3 Class 37 originally numbered D6777 introduced to traffic in October 1962 and allocated to Thornaby. Received Tops number 37 077 in February 1974 and was named BRITISH STEEL SHELTON on 30th September 1985 at BSC Lackenby. Name removed in July 1987 and unofficially named HURRICANE at Tinsley in October 1989. Currently in store with EWS. Retains chrome plating around the edge and rear, the latter being ex loco with the exception of the number being painted in white.

Locomotive Alloy Headboard THE CAMBRIAN COAST EXPRESS. The train was inaugurated in 1927 running Fridays and Saturdays from Paddington to Aberystwyth and through coaches to Pwllheli. Journey time was total of 5 hours 35 minutes for the 235 miles from London. In the reverse direction, the train left Aberystwyth at 10:00 am. The train became the 2:00 pm (hourly service) departure from Birmingham to arrive at Paddington at 4:00 pm. Thus the up journey, which took 6 hours, was 25 minutes slower than the down journey This excellent headboard is in pretty much ex loco condition, still retaining some soot around some of the corners, plenty of evidence that this was carried for a long while, the back has the names of other headboards of the same pattern cast into it. An opportunity to acquire a evocative headboard that has not been on the market for over a decade.

A 12-inch Mahogany cased iron dial fusee clock manufactured for the Eastern Region of British Railways circa 1948. the white enamel dial displays B.R.(E) 14094. The L.N.E.R. record cards show that this clock was located at Doncaster Yard Master and was sold to Collectors Corner on 10/10/1983 in good original working condition.

Southern Railway Enamel Target Sign BROADSTONE, in excellent condition with good colour and shine and a few small areas of excellent restoration, displays well. Broadstone was a former LSWR & S&DJR station in Dorset and was officially the last station on the S&D line. The station closed in 1966.

Nameplate THE TYNEDALE with original, right facing, smooth fur Fox being the right side nameplate. Ex LNER D49 Hunt Class Locomotive, last of the class, built at Darlington in February 1935 and numbered 377. Re-numbered 2775 in November 1946 and then to 62775 by BR in September 1948. Withdrawn in December 1958. Although it carries the smooth fur Fox, inspection shows no reverse stampings indicating either it was missed or, it may be an early replacement Note: The Tynedale Hunt was formed in 1839 at Corbridge in Northumberland, and operated in an area ranging roughly from the Tyne to the Wansbeck and from Hexham to Ponteland.

Also the list of hotels and the conductors name F. Wray. Inside is the system Map with distances from Paddington to places of interest. London & North Western Railway historical, World War I, handwritten letter from G.H. Claughton, Chairman of the LNWR to G. Hughes, ex LYR Engineer, then destined to become Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LNWR. The letter, dated Oct 9th 1919, expresses the feeling and gratitude of Claughton through the then Strike and aftermath of the War. A quite moving letter written and signed by this famous Railwayman. Loose mounted under polythene to protect whilst displayed today.

GWR Brass Drum Clock by Kays, Paris. The white porcelain dial is in excellent condition with no visible repairs or damage and has G.W.R. Kay & Co Paris set in enamel. The brass case, back and movement all have the same number, 4842 stamped within. The clock is in good working, original condition, complete with key.

Named in October 1950 running for just over a year in BR blue livery. Withdrawn in June 1965. The plate has the typical casting marks in the totally ex loco rear. A quantity of good quality photographs accompany.

Nameplate EARL OF BIRKENHEAD. Ex GWR 4-6-0 Castle Class Locomotive, built Swindon in June 1937 and allocated to Shrewsbury, remaining there until after nationalisation. Originally named Sudeley Castle but renamed just 4 months later, in October 1937. Double chimney and 4 row superheater fitted September 1958. By March 1959 shed allocation was Reading. Last shed allocation Cardiff Canton. Withdrawn September 1962. Scrapped at Cashmore's, Newport. A lovely plate with original splasher as fitted to earlier class of locomotive.

British Railways Western Region (GWR pattern) white, heavy Loco Lamp with 'BR(W)' embossed on the chimney. Complete with original reservoir and burner. Retains the red, slide-in aspect glass in the rear access door. Tastefully restored, these were used on BR(W) passenger trains throughout the steam era.

Cabside Numberplate 5951 ex GWR 4-6-0 locomotive named CLYFFE HALL. Built Swindon in December 1935 and allocated new to Gloucester. A short time at Worcester saw the return to Gloucester and undoubtedly became the 'old favourite' Withdrawn from there in April 1964 and finally cut up at Cashmores, Newport in August 1964. The numerals and rim of the face has not been touched but indications are that someone has applied black paint at some time, the lining has disappeared. A framed and glazed colour photograph taken in June 1962 at Blatchbridge Junction on a Cheltenham - Weymouth train accompanies. Note: Clyffe Hall is an early 18th century building at West Lavington, a few miles south of Devizes.

GWR Brass Cabside numberplate 4224 Ex GWR 2-8-0T built at Swindon in November 1913 and allocated to Newport. Last GWR shed was Ebbw Junction and stayed in South Wales throughout being withdrawn in February 1959 from Tondu. Brass construction, the engine class and boiler details being clearly stamped in the rim. Good, polished condition.

British Railways Midland Region First Aid Cupboard. Standing 5' 1 high, 2' 2 wide and 13 deep, this most unusual wooden item has a fitted interior, a pull down working surface and separate partitions for equipment; almost a portable medical centre! Some hinges marked 'BR'. Contains a splint stamped 'Loco Le'ster' indicating that it was probably used at Leicester MPD. Comes complete with an original LMS Blanket.

Nameplate ST SIMON, ex LNER A3 Class Locomotive built Doncaster in September 1923 under Works Number 1573. Originally numbered 4481 and then, in January 1946, was numbered 511. Just 4 months later became number 112 and finally 60112 in March 1949 under the BR regime. Allocated new to Doncaster and shuffled between there and Grantham until, during the War, had a spell at Copley Hill. Final depot was Kings Cross and withdrawal came in December 1964. Note: St Simon was the winner of the 1884 Ascot Gold Cup under the ownership of the Duke of Portland.

London & South Western 4 aspect Fogman's Handlamp with Side Door. Complete with original reservoir and an SR stamped burner. Stamped with company initials on the door and a simple, brass plate stamped 'E' on the reducing cone. The lamp body has a thick, brass rim around the top and the whole lamp has been tastefully restored.

LNER Whistle, ex LNER A3 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotive numbered 60051, BLINK BONNY. Built at Doncaster, Works No. 1606 entered traffic in November 1924 No. 2550 A10 class. Later rebuilt at Doncaster into an A3 and re-entered traffic in November 1945. Renumbered LNER 51 in August 1946 and BR 60051 in September 1948. Nameplate GLASGOW CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. Ex class 47 number 47469. Named at Glasgow Queen Street station on 3rd March 1983 by George Heaney, President of the Chamber. Interestingly, the loco had failed earlier and had to be dragged to the ceremony and away again. Plate removed from the loco in March 1989. Totally ex loco and measures 113 in length.

Royal Navy Ships Plaque HMS BRISSENDEN together with the original plaque presented by the People Of Barnes to HMS Brissenden to commemorate the adoption of the ship during Warship Week, March 1942. A wonderful, wartime artefact of great historic interest. HMS Brissenden was a Hunt Class, Type IV Destroyer laid down on 28th Feb 1941 and commissioned in Feb 1943 as L.79. The ship saw action during the 'D' day landings and later in the 'Battle of the Scillies' against German 'E' Boats. She was scrapped at Dalmuir in March 1963.

GWR Hand Written Note Books, qty 2, written in 1942 by Chief Inspector Gillett, a notable and well known railway gentleman who worked in the Birmingham District detailing Engine Numbers and Drivers from Tyseley on specific workings with timings. Local trains only but extremely interesting. Locos include, many times in fact, 5152, 4108, 5166, 5177, 5199, 8109, 5193, 4939, 5102 etc. Most runs are Moor Street through to Stratford with all stations listed with timings. A couple of gems.

Scrapped at Cashmore's, Newport. There were 9 Halls selected for improved draughting test, only two were from the 69XX series. A rare plate indeed.

Industrial Nameplate BIRKENHEAD ex Manning Wardle 1661 of 1909 scrapped in 1950. The plate was then transferred in 1951 onto Andrew Barclay 1355 ex 0-4-0ST with OC which was built on the 13th June 1914. Used first, before naming at James Kennedy & Co Bo'ness until 1951, then Joseph Perrin and Son at Birkenhead Docks where naming took place. Scrapped 1957.

Smokebox Numberplate 4037, ex GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 Locomotive named THE SOUTH WALES BORDERERS. Built at Swindon in December 1910 as a Star Class 4-6-0 with same number and named Queen Philippa. Rebuilt as a Castle in 1926 and renamed in 1937 and also fitted with regimental crests. It went new to Old Oak Common and remained there well into BR days until a move in 1956 to Penzance, then Newton Abbot, Landore, and finally a brief spell at Exeter from where withdrawal took place in September 1962. Cu up at Cashmores, Newport. Front repainted, the back cleaned.
