Southern Railway Sykes Lock & Block Instrument with attached Line Clear/Train On Line/ Normal instrument on top and the main instrument dial showing '16 with 12 Normal TO PERRY ST. FORK JUNCTION'. The box was situated at the junction from Barnehurst to Slade Green and Crayford Creek Junction.

BR(S) 12 oak cased fusee dial Clock No 11025, supplied new to the Southern region of British Railways in 1950 by Stockall, Marples & Co. The oak case is complete with its original spun bezel and the dial retains its original dial paint showing 'BR(S) 11025'. The SR clock records show that this clock was originally supplied for use at Ashford Mechanical and Electrical Departme. In ex railway condition, the movement appears to be in working order but has not been tested. A nice honest example that would benefit from a clean and sympathetic restoration.

Midland Railway Badge 'STEWARD Midland RAILy BALL' with blue ribbon, enamel bar at top with the word 'STEWARD', and the main body having a porcelain image of a red tender locomotive, a scroll with the text in blue backed enamel above and finally an enamel Wyvern above that having a maroon background. Makers name 'Kenning & Son, London on rear. Quite superb condition but the ribbon has through time, become a tiny bit worn. Together with a superb little bronze Midland Railway Rifle Club Medallion with the Wyvern dominating the front and the word 'MARKSMAN' on the obverse. To complete this, there is a LMS WW2 enamel Railway Service Badge and an LMS Certificate for service through the General Strike. The badges belonged to the vendor's grandfather, the certificate to his grandmother. A very nice, family collection.

Taff Vale Railway 12 inch mahogany cased drop dial trunk fusee clock, by Joseph Collings of Cardiff circa 1870. This significant and rare clock is in original ex railway condition with GWR on the dial and ghosted writing Jo Collings 22 Cardiff, probably indicating this was TVR clock No 22. The mahogany case features flame mahogany veneers, a brass bow tie lenticle window and ornately carved ears, the GWR ivorine numberplate No 2692 is screwed onto the left hand side of the case , the movement has shaped shoulders and turned barrelled pillars and is in working condition however the fusee wire line is frayed and will need to be replaced asap. Altogether a truly magnificent pre grouping time piece complete with pendulum and key.

Worksplate W.G. Bagnall Engineers Stafford No 1424. Ex 3 ft 6 ins gauge 0-4-0 (inverted) ST which went new in December 1893 to London County Council, Northern Outfall, Beckton Sewage Works where it was number 2. Spent all its life there and was scrapped circa June 1957. Oval brass 6

Single Line brass Key Token NAIRN - MILLBURN JN No 3 (configuration C ?). Ex Highland Railway section between Nairn and Inverness Millburn Junction. Dating from 12th March 1967 when the line was reduced to single track. Millburn Junction Signal Box was closed on the 8th March 1987 when control was transferred to Inverness SC and the section became worked by Track Circuit Block. Brass construction, ex box condition.

GWR official Book 'Railway Ribaldry' by W. Heath Robinson. Published by the GWR in 1935 being 96 pages of Railway Humour. Originally priced 1/-, this famous little book is in very sound condition with less than usual defects around the cover edges where it folds loosely over the page edges. Slight foxing on some pages but overall one of the better examples we have seen.

Both are 26 square and display the full Lancashire & Yorkshire railway crest in the centre together with 'Exchange Station Hotel Liverpool' These are possibly unique survivors and are both in fairly good condition . London Transport & Green Line enamel Bus & Coach Stop - By Request and Compulsory. Double side, one side having three original route plates, not necessarily matching with the sign - 454A; 175; 712. Excellent condition with just minor chipping due to use.Note. 454A ran a few isolated Monday to Friday journeys between Tonbridge Station and Riverhead via Hildenborough, Riverhill, Sevenoaks Weald and Sevenoaks Station. 175 ran daily between Ongar and Dagenham (New Road). 712 was introduced in 1946 as part of the post-war re-instatement of the coach services and ran from Dorking to Luton via Leatherhead, Epsom, North, Borehamwood, London Colney, St. Albans and Harpenden. In the early 60s the 712 was diverted between Radlett and St. Albans

GWR post-grouping Pocket Watch by Limit, Swiss Made. Enamel dial showing the company initials and the number 03148. The rear of the case is engraved with company initials and the same number as that on the dial. In excellent, working condition, no chips to the dial and retains the original bevelled glass.

British Railways(M) double sided Station Sign KENDAL STATION, measuring 36 x 24. Has the British Railways totem above the lettering on both sides. Hanging bracket still in place, the whole sign in superb condition with deep colour and shine, just a few minor defects as expected from being in use outside the station. Kendal is situation on the Cumbrian branch line from Oxenholme on the West Coast Main Line, to Windermere in the beautiful Lake District.

London & North Western Railway gilded, hallmarked silver Casket presented to Sir Richard Moon, Baronet on the occasion of the giving of Queens Park to the people of Crewe and in return, the presentation to him of first Freeman of Crewe 4th July 1887. The casket has the enamelled Crewe Coat of Arms with motto 'Never Behind' on one side and the L&NWR Britannia Coat of Arms on the other. Each side of the COAs is a hand painted image in full colour of locomotives, Webbs Compound & Stephensons Rocket and local images of Boating Lake and Horse-drawn Carriage. The ends have a single image of Old Shops & Offices 1843 and Euston Coffee Tavern 1885. The lid is topped with an impressive Phoenix and the inscription 'vincit omnia veritas' with a circular, red enamel motif of the recipient's initials. The side slopes of the lid have engravings of Euston Station 1858 and Britannia Bridge 1850. The rear slope is exquisitely engraved 'Sir Richard Moon Baronet, Chairman Of The London & North Western Railway Company, The First Honorary Freeman Of The Borough Of Crewe, Admitted 4th July 1887, F.W. Webb, Mayor'. Inside the casket is a beautiful, colour Scroll with details of the presentation. Mounted on a plinth, the casket measures 8 high x 8

GWR brass Cabside Numberplate 3370. Ex Bulldog Class 4-4-0 locomotive, built Swindon Works March 1903. Named SIR JOHN LLEWELYN after one of the GWR Directors who served the company between 1892-1922. Allocated new to Swindon, it also worked out of Oxford and Banbury. Withdrawn from Bristol Bath Road from where withdrawal took place in February 1939. Top rim stamped 'Engine Class 4.4.0 A.23' and the bottom rim is stamped 'Boiler Class B.A.'. The rear is stamped '3422' which was the original number of SIR JOHN LLEWELYN, the loco being renumbered to 3370 in the 1912 renumbering scheme that the GWR implemented. Originally, 3370 was Bulldog TREMAYNE but this loco carried a combined name & numberplate. Face cleaned, rear ex loco.

LB&SCR 14 oak cased drop dial chisel bottom fusee Clock No 1173B. The chain driven fusee movement appears to be in working order but has not been tested. The back of the plate is stamped 'GBE' and the oak case is complete with its original cast bezel with the back of the box stamped '1173 B'. The pendulum bob is also stamped '1173'. The dial has been painted but would benefit from a repaint. Most of the original lettering, including 1173 B, is still discernable. The SR clock records show that this clock was originally supplied for use at London Bridge station and was then transferred to the CME department at Ashford (Kent). A nice example that would benefit from sympathetic restoration.

A magnificent painting depicting a 1953, Coronation Year' scene of Tram 637 working No 2 route from Erdington to the city centre at the junction of Lichfield Road and Witton Park Road. The tram, along with three others shares the scene with a red MG open top sports car and a half-cab double decker. A recent shower has deposited a film of water on the road and the reflections add depth and reality to complete the scene. Beautifully framed, it measures 32 x 43

Cabside Numberplate 1606. Ex 0-6-0PT built Swindon 30th November 1949 and allocated new to Danygraig. After a short while at Duffryn Yard, it was reallocated to Neyland and spent 6 years there only to end up at Llanelly from where withdrawal took place in September 1961. Subsequently cut up at Cashmore's Newport in March 1962. Lovely balanced plate, face tastefully restored.

Midland Railway brass Signal Box Shelf Plates, a pair of significant importance. The first is 'BATH STATION' and the second is 'BATH JUNCTION'. From the ex Somerset & Dorset terminus, one plate must have originated from Bath Station Signal Box, the other from Bath Junction Signal Box. Although well polished, these are of significant importance to the S&D history. Also with this lot is an traffolite plate 'Down Block Lawrence Hill' and a brass Instrument Plate No 49.

WW1 Medal Pair and French Medal of Honour awarded to William Edward Woof. This gentleman was the Driver/Fireman destined for unknown fame when he was captured by photographer Charles E. Brown at Clapham Junction, leaning from his cab and looking down on a young boy carrying a tiny suitcase. The image was to become one of the most iconic Southern Railway Posters of all time I'm Taking An Early Holiday Cos I Know Summer Comes Soonest In The South'. Along with the medals are a further three badges that belonged to this man:- WW2 War Service Badge; a 'For Loyal Service' badge; Salonika Reunion Association 1915 - 19 enamel badge. Also, the original, framed & glazed certificate issued with the French Medal of Honour and a few photographs of the individual and a small copy of the poster itself. A quite significant artefact of our railway history.

GWR C/I Lamp Post complete with original GWR Lamp fitted to the top. The post is 95 high and is tastefully embossed 'GWR Co., Hardy & Padmore, Worcester'. The lamp has a wonderful makers plate attached 'W. Parkinson & Co., Incorporated in Parkinson & Cowan, London & Birmingham'. To be collected from the Vendor's premises near Taunton. Note: Hardy & Padmore, the Worcester Foundry, was established in 1814 and famously manufactured the Foregate Street Railway Bridge in the heart of the City and also, surprisingly, the beautiful 'Dolphin' Lamps on Westminster Embankment, London.

Volvo Lorry Mascot in the form of a Viking with attached Shield. Totally original measuring approximately 19 high. Retains the bottom mounting bracket and electrical connection beneath to light up once affixed to a lorry. Plenty of traces of original paint, this is a scarce item probably fitted to a Volvo F10 lorry.

Locomotive Nameplate MOREHAMPTON GRANGE together with the matching GWR brass Cabside Numberplate 6853. Ex GWR 4-6-0 'Grange' Class locomotive number 6853, built Swindon November 1937. Allocated new to Tyseley where it remained until withdrawal in October 1965 and then subsequently cut up at G. Cohen, Kettering in March 1966. The back of the nameplate is clearly stamped with the usual Swindon identification and the letter 'R' indicating the right-hand side. A magnificent, 'extended backplate' nameplate measuring 72

Gresley A4 Pacific circular Locknut clearly stamped 60024. Comes with the top part of a Duplex Gauge and a brass Injector Handle, all recovered from the loco on a visit to Hughes Bolcklow of Blyth. Also accompanying is a framed print of the loco in blue livery by BJ Freeman and a couple of b/w photos of the loco in the scrapyard with conrods on the floor. The locknut may well have been part of the conrod mounting.

Cardiff Railway enamel Sign 'Smoking In Or About This Warehouse Is Prohibited - by Order T.N. Rosser Dockmaster. There are 9 further lines of text besides the heading and it is signed again at the bottom C.S. Denniss General Manager, Cardiff Railway Company, Bute Docks, Cardiff. Red lettering on white ground, the sign is in exceptional condition with just one face chip and some minor bolt-hole chips.

British Railways rolled Signal Box Diagram CONISTON, dated 1959. Thick cartridge type paper, hand coloured, it shows Torver at one end and of course, being a terminus, no line the other end. The line closed completely on the 30th April 1962 having closed to passengers 4 years earlier. Very little ever surfaces from this long gone line.

A rare boundary marker from this small company, originally the Duffryn, Llynvi and Porthcawl Railway which was formed by the merger on 1 July 1866 of the broad-gauge Llynvi Valley Railway and the standard-gauge Ogmore Valley Railway. Cabside Numberplate 2814. Ex GWR 2-8-0 heavy freight locomotive, built Swindon November 1905 under lot number 2118. Allocated new to Aberdare for working the S. Wales coalfields. Later St. Philips Marsh and by nationalisation, it had found its way to Taunton, remaining there for some time. Returned to Wales to see its last days at Ebbw Junction. Withdrawn from there in August 1958. Class and Boiler details stamped in top and bottom rim. The face is polished, the back has locomotive details painted.

Tyers No 6 Single Line Tablet ROSE STREET - CLACHNAHARRY No 30 (configuration 'special'). Ex Highland Railway between Inverness and the Far North of Scotland and Kyle of Lochalsh. The special configuration is probably the result of the original existence of an intermediate siding for the Muirton Basin Branch. This had an intermediate tablet instrument to enable trains to be 'shut in' whilst at the same time , special locking existed for the Swing Bridge over the Caledonian Canal at Clachnaharry. GWR 12 inch mahogany cased drop dial chain driven fusee Clock originally supplied by Kay's of Worcester circa 1870. This early style clock has been restored and the dial repainted some time ago, the case bears its original ivorine numberplate 964 and the vendor states that it came from Kidderminster station. The early style movement with chain to the fusee and shaped shoulders and cut out to the bottom is stamped 17551 and the pendulum is also stamped with the same number. The clock is complete with all necessary keys and is in working order.

LNWR 8-inch Mahogany cased fusee dial clock with a cast brass bezel manufactured for the London and North Western Railway circa 1880 by John Walker of 1 South Molton Street London. The quality English fusee movement in fully overhauled condition is of typical London style and has rectangular plates which are held together by turned tapered shouldered pillars, the white enamel hand painted dial shows L.M.S.R. John Walker 1, South Molton St London 2493. The case is a traditional English dial clock case manufactured from Mahogany with a one piece turned convex surround fixed to the back box by two battens with two tapered pegs, the back box is of traditional mid to late 19th century design with one side access door and a bottom door with the usual John Walker cock beading and is secured with a brass lock, the case also retains its original LNWR enamel clock numberplate 2493. Complete with pendulum and key.

LB&SCR 10 mahogany cased chain driven fusee Clock by Grimshaw Baxter & Elliott Ltd of London. The cleaned and overhauled chain driven fusee movement is in excellent working order and the mahogany case is complete with its original cast bezel with the hinge stamped 796, the back of the box is stamped 796 B. The dial has been repainted post 1948 and now reads B.R. (S) John Walker, 1 South Molton Street 796.B. The SR clock records show that this clock was supplied new to the LB&SCR in 1889 and was originally in use at Tulse Hill, Knights Hill Signal box and later transferred to the Peckham Rye. A wonderful example in full working order and complete with pendulum and key.

Nameplate WESTWOOD HALL together with the matching cast brass Cabside Numberplate 4978. Ex GWR 4-6-0 Hall Class Locomotive built at Swindon Works in February 1930 and allocated new to Plymouth Laira. By 1948 had wandered to Old Oak and stayed in that area with a move to Southall in 1950. Further moves through the 50's saw allocations to Westbury and Taunton. Withdrawn from Severn Tunnel Junction in September 1964 and cut up at Hayes, Bridgend. The nameplate has been tenderly polished over the years and retains the original splasher paint. The cabside too has been polished over the years but has been professionally, face restored. It is stamped with class details in the top rim and boiler details in the lower rim. A wonderful set indeed.

SECR 12 oak cased drop dial fusee Clock No 1443 SE. The chain driven fusee movement appears to be in working order but has not been tested. The movement backplate is stamped 'G&B, SECRY', the pendulum bob is stamped '1443'. The oak case is complete with its original cast bezel and the back of the box stamped '1443 SE' The original brass 1443 numberplate is present on the inside of the right hand door. The dial retains its post grouping lettering 'S.R. John Walker 1 South Molton street London 1443 SE'. It is certainly very rare to see clocks still lettered SR as most were repainted BR(S). The SR clock records show that it was originally supplied for use at Victoria station carriage sidings cabin and was then transferred to Waterloo 'D' Section stores department. A wonderful example in totally ex railway condition, that would benefit from sympathetic restoration.

Single Line bronze Key Token ROSE STREET - CLACHNAHARRY No 28 (configuration B?) Ex Highland Railway between Inverness and the Far North of Scotland and Kyle of Lochalsh. Great Central Railway Memorial Roll Booklet dedicated to The Staff of The Great Central Railway Who Gave Their Lives For Their Country In The Great War 1914 - 1918. This 43 page booklet has an Architect's Drawing inside the front cover depicting the Memorial to be erected at Sheffield Station in honour of the 1302 Great Central Railway Men who gave their lives. Broken down into departments, each fallen hero is listed by name, rank, regiment or ship and previous station employed at. Printed by Knapp Drewett & Sons Ltd., Kingston-on-Thames. Inside is the original, headed letter dated March 1921 which was sent to the appropriate relative asking that the details are checked for correctness. Midland Railway C/I Bridge Restriction Re Ponderous Carriages etc, signed James Williams April 28th 1875 in ex bridge condition, as removed from the bridge parapet which was the boundary between Lee Bank road & Islington Row in Birmingham, they were removed when the bridge was demolished for road widening and Five ways station reopened, it is now dual carriageway and renamed Lee Bank Middleway.

GWR plain mahogany cased Home Signal Repeater Instrument bearing a brass plate beneath number 27. The signal is the earlier style with finial arm. Ex box condition, originated from the Cymmer area. Together with a GWR mahogany cased Home Signal Repeater Instrument bearing an ivorine plate number 38. Non finial arm mechanism, nice ex box condition but signal arm isn't that free to move. Originated from the Cymmer area.

Great Northern Railway Pocket Watch No 247, by John Walker London. A high quality English lever watch with top wind and pin set for the hands. The movement is engraved 9434 JN Walker 77 Cornhill London and is in clean working condition. The dial is free from chips and has Great Northern, John Walker 77 Cornhill London enamelled onto it. The Nickel case has Great Northern No 247 hand engraved to the rear, although this is somewhat worn. A lovely pre grouping watch and a rare survivor, it was owned by the late William Goodliff of Grantham who spent his working life as a guard on the Great Northern and later LNER and became an Alderman and Mayor of Grantham in 1951.

Early LNER enamel sign, c1920's headed 'You Are At This Spot' showing a local map of the area and lines to Chingford, Epping Seven Kings and Chigwell. A large black arrow is pointing to Gray's Retreat which is on the road to Theydon Bois. The bottom of the sign says 'Nearest L.N.E.R Station Theydon Bois' and 'London and Back 2/-'. The map is black on white ground but the relevant lines are in red as is the border. Interestingly, a good number of local pubs are shown including Theydon Retreat (formerly Riggs) and Grays Retreat. Damaged by a parachute mine during the Second World War. The mine had actually fallen on Yates (formerly Riggs) Retreat on the other side of the road. It had become entangled with the helter skelter and destroyed Yates Retreat completely. Battalions of soldiers were stationed at the retreats during the war, and many of them were killed in this incident. Grays Retreat later took another direct hit from a bomb which destroyed it. GWR brass Waiting Room Lamp along with a Signal Box Lamp reservoir and a couple of other similar fittings. Together with British Railways Water Carriers, qty 3. Two are identical, large style with brass fitted taps and swinging handle on top and embossed 'BR'. The other is slightly smaller embossed 'BR Sc' and has fixed handles top and rear. All three are in extremely good condition.

Signal Box 'mimic' diagram from Neath & Brecon Junction Signal Box. The item probably dates from the 1960's when the layout around Neath Riverside was rationalised. It measures 12 x 5 and is wooden construction with ivorine overlay. It shows the line from Glyn Neath and also Onllwyn to the left and the line to Jersey Marine to the right. A couple of original pegs remain, these were used to show the location of the many trains that would have been working at a given time in the vicinity. Not seen the likes before so quite a scarcity. Southern Railway brass Plunger with ivorine plate No 33 together with a couple of Lever Plates, one with a traffolite plate '41 Gates Unlocked - Locked Across Line - Wheel' and ' 32 Up Main Detonators OFF - ON'. Together with a small, tin First Aid Box, no markings but definitely Southern Railway. All came from a Salisbury Signal Box.

Amateur 8mm colour film taken by a local signalman of the 24th November 1960 accident at Pontrhydyfen. The crash is well documented but footage is unknown. The loco involved was Pannier Tank 9737 and there is dark footage of the loco (shows cabside numberplate), embedded in a diesel multiple unit. This film is on a full 3 spool. Also, on a full 7 spool, another 8mm colour film of the signalman's holiday to Germany in the 1960's. Mainly family clips but some brief glimpses of German electric and steam and also many shots of river traffic. Finally, another 3 spool marked 'Train from Cymmer to Bridgend - over exposed - 80% U/S'. The original Keystone 20 Movie Camera is included (there is a film inside but not sure whether it has been exposed or not) and also an untested Elmo Projector. GWRA recommend the latter is checked by a qualified electrician before using.

GWR Pre-grouping Pocket Watch, by Lancashire Watch Co Ltd Prescot. A good quality English made watch with top wind and lever set for time adjustment. The dial is free from chips and has GWR enamelled below the XII position as well as the makers name. The good quality Nickel case has GWR hand engraved onto it and the number 3064 machine engraved, the numbered movement 328239 is fully signed Lancashire Watch Co Ltd. Prescot & London and the records show that this was made with 4 pairs of extra jewels. In working condition, the glass has been replaced long ago with the thick plastic type which has yellowed slightly. This type of watch is the rarest GWR pattern of all.

LNER fully engraved brass Worksplate 'LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY Co No 1601 DONCASTER 1924'. Ex A3 Gresley 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotive No 2545, DIAMOND JUBILEE. Renumbered No 46 in 1946, becoming 60046 in BR days. Entered traffic to Kings Cross MPD in August 1924. Allocations include Grantham, Copley Hill, Doncaster and New England. Withdrawn from Grantham in June 1963 and cut up just a few months later. Stamped on the rim and on the rear '2545' and also '46'. Named after the famous Racehorse Diamond Jubilee, owned by H.R.H. Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) and winner in 1900 of the Derby, the 2000 Guineas and the St. Leger. A truly magnificent worksplate offered significantly in this special year of H.R.H Queen Elizabeth's own Diamond Jubilee.
