Smokebox Numberplate 45419. Ex Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 Locomotive built by Armstrong Whitworth under works number 1474 in 1937. A copy of the engine records accompany and show that the loco was allocated to Rugby, Walsall, Bescot and Chester. Purchased from Cashmores Great Bridge, along with shedplate and Stanier Hooter for the price of a gallon of petrol. Restored.

GWR mahogany cased, drop dial trunk, chain driven Fusee Clock. The movement is a early example having shaped shoulders and a cut out to the bottom, the case is also the earlier type having two side doors and an eight piece wooden surround. Face repainted with the GWR roundel logo long ago. The movement has recently had a main spring fitted and has been lightly overhauled and is in working condition. Delightful case with ivorine plate GWR 3354 on the side. Complete with key. No paperwork but the vendor says it came from Ballingham Station between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye.

Totem, BR(S) ALRESFORD, H/F, dark green. Ex LSWR station on the Alton to Winchester line. Opened in 1865 for the new Alton, Alresford and Winchester Railway Company and closed on 5th February 1973 and became part of the Watecress Line under preservation. Very good condition with just slight mottling. A scarce totem.

London & North Eastern Railway 9 x 5 C/I Works Numberplate 1191 dated 1947. Ex Thompson B1 4-6-0 Locomotive number 1191, later 61191 under British Railways. Built in May 1947 by the North British Locomotive Co Glasgow under works number 26092. Initially a Doncaster loco, it had a couple of years at Immingham before departing North of the border to St Margarets for 10 more years before withdrawal in August 1965.

Pullman Car Company china Teacup & Saucer, Side Plate and Butter Dish. A lovely little collection manufactured by Ridgway and bearing the brown and grey 'Grecian Urn' pattern with the Plate and Butter Dish bearing the full Pullman 'double lion' emblem in the centre. All in pristine condition, quite delightful.

Nameplate THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION. Ex BR/EE 25kv Bo-Bo Class 86 originally numbered E3178. Built by the English Electric Co under works number E3470/E316 in August 1965. Renumbered 86244 under TOPS in March 1974 and was named on the 2nd November 1981 by Lady Vivienne Haig, grandaughter of founder Lord Haig at Euston Station. Scrapped in 2003 at Easco, Immingham Railfreight Terminal. This plate is a Swindon casting. Note: The other side was sold in our May 2009 auction.

GWR steel and brass Single Line Key Token HOLT - PATNEY AND CHIRTON in a steel hoop holder. Ex GWR section through Devizes which left the West of England Main Line at Patney and joined the Bradford Junction to Chippenham line at Holt. Closed forever in April 1966. 'Holt' has been stamped where 'Devizes' has, long ago, been ground off, whereas the rest of the description is actually cast into the brass plate.

British Pneumatic Railway Signal Company (later British Power Railway Signal Co.) tapered and ribbed Signal Arm and spectacle. A significant and historic item from this company, established in 1900 and under licence from America, pioneering the use of low-pressure air operated points and signals. Initial installations were on the L&SWR around Grateley and Andover, later Basingstoke and Clapham Junction. However, this one was fitted during the 1925 scheme at Cambridge, confirmed by a picture of the Cambridge signals adjacent to Cambridge South Signal Box in 'An Illustrated History of Signalling' by M.A. Vanns on page 62. Further, quality photographs are held at the Kidderminster Railway Museum.

Nameplate GLEN SHEIL. Ex North British Railway Class K - Reid 4-4-0 locomotive built at Cowlairs in May 1917and numbered 9298. Renumbered 2479 in March 1946 and then 62479 by BR in March 1948. Primarily an Eastfield loco assigned to the West Highland line. In 1953 it moved to Kittybrewster to replace older 4-4-0's that had been withdrawn. It was from here that withdrawal took place in June 1961. This is of course the flame-cut 'splasher' nameplate.

Totem, BR(NE) CASTLEFORD CENTRAL, H/F. Ex NER station on the Burton Salmon to Normanton line. Opened in 1871, it was a one time through station to York but since 1970, it is a reversing terminus. A very rare totem indeed but sadly, the environment at the station caused considerable fading to the tangerine enamel. However, in view of the rarity, you may never get another example.

LNER Pullman Car Clock LNER No 11395. An interesting timepiece that was originally fitted to one of the LNER Pullman cars and later found its way back to Doncaster to be mounted in a custom made mahogany balloon style case. Used as a desk clock by the Medical Officer and eventually resided on the desk of the last General Manager of the Works. An English going barrel movement in full working condition with a silvered dial marked 'H.Hughes & Co Ltd Hudson English Lever, LNER 11395' A rare clock.

Worksplate The English Electric Co Ltd Vulcan Works Newton-Le-Willows No 3388/D854 1963. Ex Class 37 introduced November 1963 and originally numbered D6910. Under TOPS was renumbered 37693 in July 1986 and then 37210 in Feb 1974. Named SIR WILLIAM ARROL (who designed the Forth Bridge) in March 1990, removed in July 1993. Loco currently stored Tyne Yard. Totally ex loco condition.

Cabside Numberplate 7435, brass construction. Ex GWR 0-6-0PT built Swindon in 1948. Allocated to Stourbridge Junction until 1963 then Aberdare until withdrawal in July 1964. Comes with original BR receipt dated 9th Nov 1966, an interesting list of loco cabsides available at the time, and a b/w photograph showing the loco at Coaley on a Dursley train in February 1962.

Totem BR(M) F/F LONG BUCKBY. Ex London and North Western Railway Station on the Northampton loop on the West Coast Main Line and the sole surviving village station on this part of the route. Excellent colour and shine with slight mottling, a tiny chip on the second B, hardly noticeable.

Poster, BR(W) D/R 'Porthcawl - For Happy Healthy Holidays' by Harry Riley. Arguably the best of the Porthcawl posters being the absolute epitome of 1950's holidays at the seaside. Depicting a young boy and girl with their little dog and bucket & spade, on the steps of the beach-front promenade. Lots of families and other trippers around, soaking up the sun, sea & sand. Published by the Railway Executive Western Region and printed by Jordison. Excellent condition with a few creases.

Poster, 'Isle Of Man For Happy Holidays - See The TT Races June 2nd, 4th & 6th - Travel By Rail From Ardrossan', D/R. Superb image of No. 55 Motor Cycle and Rider with outline of island and course as a backdrop. Although undated, this is most likely to be circa 1960, the days of Mike Hailwood and the appearance of the first Japanese Bikes. As with many posters, the station sent to is written on the back, this one states 'Hillington East' which is near Glasgow. Folds but in excellent condition.

Worksplate 9 x 5 brass, London & North Eastern Railway 2701 Darlington Works 1927. Ex Gresley Class D 4-4-0 locomotive D49 'Shire' named DERBYSHIRE. Built in the November of 1927, it was originally numbered 251. Renumbered to 2701 by the LNER in December 1946 and finally 62701 by BR in June 1948. Number ground off but still visible but the later BR strip 62701 accompanies. Predominantly a Hull Botanic Gardens and Bridlington loco. Withdrawn in September 1959.

Nameplate PEBBLE MILL. Ex BR 25kv Bo-Bo Class 86 originally numbered E3135. Built by British Railways Doncaster Works in January 1966. Renumbered 86040 under TOPS in November 1973 and again to 86256 in March 1975. Named on the 17th November 1981 at Birmingham International Station by Paul Sidey, Head of BBC Network Centre. It was named to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the BBC Pebble Mill centre in Birmingham. The unveiling ceremony was broadcast live on 'Pebble Mill At One'. Withdrawn October 2002 and scrapped in 2006 at Ron Hull Jr, Rotherham. This plate is a Swindon casting. Note: The other side was sold in our May 2009 auction. Totem, BR(S) WINCHESTER CITY, H/F. EX LSWR station opened on the 10 June 1839 by the then London & Southampton Railway. It carried the 'City' name to avoid confusion with the Didcot Newbury & Southampton station named Winchester Cheesehill, later changer to Chesil. When the latter closed in 1966, the remaining station changed its name a year later to simply Winchester. Excellent colour and shine, one small chip bottom right of centre doesn't detract from this rarity.

GWR Staff Jigsaw 'Lost In Transit'. Made up on card to show completeness and accompanied by the original, square box with label May you and yours find entertainment at home in solving this Jig-Saw Puzzle - If its message goes home, you will help to solve a big problem facing the Company'. It is perhaps no wonder this is the rarest of all GWR Jigsaws, issued only to staff in the Goods Departments, it is known to have been rejected by them as intimidating and many were simply confined to the fire!. This one is in excellent condition and the box is extremely good.

Southern Railway Lamp of interesting style and proportions. Brass plated 'Lamp Manufacturing Company, London', it is embossed SR on the side and has feet on the base. Originated from Selhurst Depot and may well have been from the Engineers Department or the Carriage & Wagon Department.

Royal Crown reputedly carried by Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 'Hudson' Locomotive number 2850 when, along with a couple of other locos, it hauled the Royal Train from Quebec to Vancouver carrying HM King George VI and Queen Elizabeth on their first visit to the Dominion. It was after the visit that the King (who was an avid train enthusiast) approved the fitting of crowns to the running boards of the Hudsons and they became known as 'Royal Hudsons' thereafter. The loco 2850 wore the crown when it was subsequently exhibited at the New York World's Fair. Two of these were made, one for each side of course, so, an incredibly rare and historic item measuring 13 x 13

Nameplate BURGHCLERE GRANGE. Ex GWR 4-6-0 'Grange' Class Locomotive built Swindon September 1936 and numbered under BR 6809. First shed allocation Old Oak Common and in August 1950 moved to Penzance. Another transfer in March 1959 was to Bristol, St. Philip's Marsh. Withdrawn from Southall in July 1963 and scrapped at Swindon Works. Ex loco condition, first time on the market. Note: Burghclere Grange was a mere stones throw from the Didcot Newbury & Southampton railway line a few miles south of Newbury.

Cunard Jigsaw Puzzle Loading and unloading a mammoth Cunarder - an everyday scene at the Liverpool, London and Southampton Docks. Made up on card to show completeness, it measures 16 x 12 and comprises approximately 150 pieces. Extremely good condition, the lift-lid box is pretty sound but has scuffs and rubs. One of the rarer Cunard Puzzles.

Received TOPS number 37273 in 1974 and later 37410 in 1985 (Note, elsewhere in the sale, we have a different plate from a loco that was also numbered 37273 at some time). Named ALUMINIUM 100 in September 1986 at the Alcan Works, Lynemouth. The loco is currently being refurbished at Marcroft Engineering, Stoke-on-Trent. Totally ex loco condition.

Smokebox Numberplate 48417. Ex 2-8-0 class 8F Locomotive built 1943 at Swindon as ordered by the Railway Executive for the war effort. Originally on loan to the GWR, it was taken into LMS stock a short while before nationalisation. Allocated to Saltley, it found its way to the Western region having a spell at Tyseley and then Stourbridge before transferring to Bolton prior to withdrawal in 1967.

British Railways Advertising Cards (carriage print style) each very colourful and measuring 24 x 11, qty 2 comprising:- New Pullman Diesel Express Services - The Birmingham Pullman & The Bristol Pullman; The South Wales Pullman, The Bristol Pullman & The Birmingham Pullman. Both have colour images of the train itself, both are excellent but the latter does have a slight dog-ear bottom right.

Totem BR(Sc) SCOTSTOUN EAST, F/F. Ex Caledonian Railways station on the North bank of the Clyde between Glasgow Central and Dumbarton. Originally Victoria Park, it was re-named Scotstoun in October 1900 and the 'East' was added in June 1952. Closed 5th October 1964. Virtual mint condition, only once at auction previously and this was the one, so, may well be the only survivor.

GNR mahogany cased Telegraph Instruments, a pair, one ex Louth Signal Box bearing the side circuit card 'Alford to Grimsby and listing the following locations:- Alford, Aby, Legbourne Road, Louth South, Louth North, Ludboro, North Thoresby, Holton-le-Clay, Waltham, Hainton Street, Grimsby Goods Junction, Grimsby Garden Street. The second has no card but is known to have originated from North Thoresby. Both in extremely good, ex box condition.

Renumbered 86206 under TOPS in July 1973 and was named on the 15th December 1978 by the Lord Mayor of Stoke. Withdrawn from service in October 2002 and finally scrapped at Sims Metals Cardiff in 2004. This plate is a Swindon casting.

Great Northern Railway (Ireland) 3 aspect Signalman's Handlamp brass plated 'THURLES 8'. Complete with original reservoir clearly stamped G.N.R.I and burner. The lamp body is also stamped 'THURLES 8' and the reducing cone is stamped 'CIE' indicating a later addition. A lovely lamp in excellent condition. Note, Thurles station is in Co. Tipperary and opened in March 1848. It is famed for the location of the arrest of William Smith O'Brien who performed many crimes during The Famine in the mid 19th century.

Midland Railway 12 oak cased Fusee Clock complete with an original Collectors Corner receipt showing the clock to be ex Ketton Signal Box. The original dial shows BR(E) 15200 and ghost lettering of John Smith & Sons, Midland Clock Works, Queen Street, Derby. Note Ketton was between Stamford and Luffenham Junction, closing in June 1966. Working order.

Oil on Canvas Painting of Castle Class 5058 Earl Of Clancarty on a West Of England Express by Mike Jeffries. Measures 27 x 21 overall in wooden frame and is in excellent condition. Mike Jeffries is a well known Transport Artist, born Plymouth just before the outbreak of WWII and still actively painting on a commission basis.

GWR Pregrouping Pocket Watch, by Lancashire Watch Co Ltd Prescot. A good quality English made watch with top wind and lever set for time adjustment. The dial is free from chips and has GWR enamelled below the XII position as well as the makers name. The good quality nickel case has matching numbers 342 to all parts and the back of the case has GWR 1964 hand engraved onto it, the movement is fully signed Lancashire Watch Co Ltd Prescot & London. In fully cleaned and working condition, this type of watch is the rarest GWR pattern of all and the first time we have sold one.

Tyer's No.6 Single Line brass Tablet GLENFINNAN - ANNAT No. 30. Ex West Highland line between Fort William and Mallaig. Re-engraved from an original Glenfinnan - Banavie Tablet. The Glenfinnan to Camus-na-Ha section opened on 15th November 1942 as a wartime measure and re-engraving would have probably occurred then. When the latter box was replaced by Annat signal box on 21st June 1964 it was re-lettered once more. Glenfinnan and Annat signal boxes were both closed on 6 December 1987.

Worksplate, Hudswell Clarke & Co Ltd Railway Foundry Leeds number 1635 dated 1929. Ex Standard Gauge 0-4-0 Saddle Tank built for Sir Lindsay Parkinson Ltd, Talbot Sawmills, Blackpool where it was given the Number 3. Note: Jacob Parkinson and Co, forerunner of Sir Lindsay Parkinson & Co Limited, was founded working from a small shed on Central Drive. As the business expanded into the building
trade, the Parkinsons built a sawmill-cum-joinery to supply timber for their projects, and moved into the new premises in Kent Road in 1896. In 1936, they won the contract to build The Liverpool - East Lancashire Road which was Britain's first purpose built intercity highway linking the cities of Manchester and Liverpool. Windle Cutting was excavated and to reove spoil, a temporary railway was laid and this loco would have undoubtedly have been used for this purpose.

North Eastern Railway Oak cased Fusee Clock. An early clock with a moulded wooden surround, back box with 2 side and bottom door. It is a good quality English fusee movement with shaped shoulders. The dial has been re-written post 1948 and now reads 'BR(NE) 11684'. The LNER clock records show that this clock was located at South Stockton Yard Masters office. A nice early clock that has been recently overhauled , complete with pendulum and key.

LNER cast brass 9 x 5 Tenderplate number 7257. Ex Gresley 2-6-2 V2 Class locomotive number 60917. However, the tenders were not tied to any one loco in particular as they were moved around to different locos quite often. May well have been attached to 60913, the worksplate of which appears elsewhere in this auction.

Industrial Nameplate PHYLLIS, ex standard gauge 0-4-0ST built by Bagnall No.1453 of 1895 which went new to Sir Alfred Hickman at Bilston, Staffs. In 2/1925 it moved to the Oxfordshire Ironstone Company Ltd near Banbury and worked there until 1944 when it was relegated to a siding with a cracked firebox. Apart from its use for a short spell as a snow plough in 1947 it remained there until sold to James Friswell and Son Ltd., also of Banbury, in 9/1951. It was scrapped by them on site 3/1952. Isle of Man Railway, small Teapot. A wonderful item with the full title scroll beneath the 3 legged motif showing clearly on the side. Manufactured by Dunn Bennett & Co, Burslem, it is white with gold rim and spout decoration, black motif. The spout is protected with a metal cover. Extremely rare and in extremely good, undamaged condition.

Nameplate COUNTY OF MERSEYSIDE. Ex BR/EE 25kv Bo-Bo Class 86 originally numbered E3161. Built by the English Electric Co under works number E3453/E299 in October 1965. Renumbered 86249 under TOPS in April 1974 and was named on the 7th September 1981 by Councillor W. Wiseman, Chairman of Merseyside Council at Liverpool Lime Street Station. Withdrawn from service in October 2003 and scrapped in 2005 at JT Landscapes, MOD Caerwent. This plate is a Swindon casting. Note: The other side was sold in our May 2009 auction.

Worksplate 9 x 5 C/I, London & North Eastern Railway 2494 Cowlairs Works 1920. Ex North British Railways Class K - Reid 4-4-0 locomotive D34. Built in July of 1920, it was originally named GLEN GAU. The LNER were somewhat embarrassed by this naming because no such Glen existed in Scotland, so, in July 1925, it was re-named GLEN GOUR. Withdrawal came in April 1959.

British Railways(E) 6 carved oak Clock by Dent, numbered 2153. Retailed in the 1920's and supplied to the GER. Good quality movement made by Coventry Astral. Complete with original key. LNER records show this clock to originate from Spelbrook Signal Box, Sawbridgeworth which lay between Broxbourne and Bishops Stortford.

Caledonian Railway 3 aspect Handlamp with a large brass plate engraved 'KIRKBUDDO STATION No 4'. The cone is stamped 'Caledonian 1622' and the side of the lamp, above the brass plate, is stamped 350 so a very early lamp with a different insert. The reservoir is original and also stamped 'Caledonian' but the burner is a later, unmarked replacement. All aspect glasses are missing. The lamp is totally unrestored. Note: Kirkbuddo station lay between Broughty Ferry and Forfar through the quaint villages of Monikie and Kingsmuir. It closed to passengers on 10th January 1955 and completely on 9th October 1967.

Measuring 67 x 12 and 76 x 12, both have good colour and shine with just a few small chips. Little or nothing has survived from this location.

Scammell Mechanical Horse 3 Ton Plate, alloy construction, flat bottom curved top. Ex 1930's 'square box type' vehicle, predecessor of the Scarab. Fitted on the centre front below the radiator, the vehicles were utilised extensively by the railway companies, particularly the GWR and LNER when first introduced in the this one came from the Hereford area and may well have been in use at Hereford station.

Totem, BR(Sc) RESTON, F/F. Ex North British Railway station on the East Coast Main Line between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Dunbar, junction for the one time link to St Boswells and the Waverley Route via Duns. Opened on the 22nd June 1846 with the Branch to Duns opening on the 13th August 1849. Closed to passengers on the 10th September 1951 and completely on the 7th November 1966. A couple of minor chips, one below the 'N' and one insignificantly near the border. Good colour but a little flat. A great rarity, first time on the market and the very first station on the main line from Berwick to have totems, the next being East Linton beyond Dunbar.

GWR C/I Signal Box Board BONCATH SIGNAL BOX. Measures 73 x 9. Ex GWR location in a quiet village between Whitland and Cardigan. The station opened in August 1886 and closed when the Cardigan service ceased in September 1962. The box would have survived a further 8 months until freight was withdrawn and the line closed completely.

Withdrawn September 1959. Note: The magnificent Houghton Hall is situated in Norfolk, not far from Sandringham and was the home of Sir Robert Walpole, Britain's first Prime Minister.

Petrol Globe FINA complete with rubber sealing ring on base. A most stunning 'Deco' style 1950's item manufactured from glass and showing 'Fina' on both sides in black shadowed white on a red ground. A rare one for sure and is in extremely good, displayable condition with just a very minor piece out of the rim beneath the seal, a small, hair-line crack near the base and possible some restoration.

Totem, BR(M) TAMWORTH, F/F. Ex LNWR (low level) or MR (high level) station between Birmingham and Derby and, on the West Coast line, between Rugby and Crewe. Probably the most famous of all 'spotting' locations in the country and absolutely drizzled with memories. Deep colour and shine, indeed in excellent condition with the exception of a small dent bottom right edge and very minor scratches.

Worksplate, Brush Sulzer No 483 dated 1963. Oval cast alloy, ex D1755. Received first TOPS number 47541 in September 1974 and named QUEEN MOTHER in October 1982 at Aberdeen station by HRH Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. The nameplates were removed in February 1991 and transferred to 47703. The loco is preserved at Tyseley.

Alloy Key Token MAGPIE GROVE - SANDY Jc. Ex GWR section on the Llanelli to Mynydd Mawr line. Earlier known as the Carmarthenshire Tramroad it was established in 1802 and claimed to be the oldest Public Railway in Britain. It closed in 1844 only to re-open in 1883 operated by the newly formed Llanelly and Mynydd Mawr Railway Co. Absorbed by the GWR in 1922 and later, under BR, was worked as a main artery for coal distribution from the Gwendraeth Valley until the closure of Cynheidre Colliery in 1989. Both Sandy and Magpie Boxes opened in July 1962 and closed in February 1968. Ex box condition.

Southern Railway enamel Target KEW GARDENS. Opened by the L&SWR on 1 January 1869, in an area of market gardens and orchards. Located on the branch to Richmond built from the West London Joint Railway starting north of Addison Road. The line ran through Shepherd's Bush and Hammersmith via a now closed curve and Grove Road station in Hammersmith (also now closed). Via a short connection from the N&SWJR to Gunnersbury the line was also served by the NLR. For 5 months in 1870, the GWR ran services from Paddington to Richmond via Hammersmith & City Railway tracks to Grove Road then on the L&SWR tracks through Kew Gardens. Good colour and shine, some repairs already filled but not painted. Extremely rare and desirable, never on the market before.

Totem BR(S) EXMOUTH, F/F. Ex LSWR station east of the River Exe. Opened on 1 May 1861 with a docks branch being opened in 1868. In 1903 a branch to Tipton St. Johns opened and ran through Budleigh Salterton. This line closed in March 1967 and Exmouth station slowly became a mere shadow of its former glory. One small face chip otherwise excellent colour and shine.

Headboard THE SHAMROCK. Famously used between 1954 until 1966 on locomotives that hauled the London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street Boat Train service with connections to the Coast Lines ferry services from Pier Head to Belfast and Dublin. As well as Princess Royals, Royal Scots and later class 40's, the prototype Deltic hauled this train on many occasions.

GWR mahogany cased drop dial trunk chain driven Fusee Clock. A very early example with the makers name SKARRATT WORCESTER clearly visible in ghosted writing on the original dial. The chain driven English fusee movement has shaped shoulders, cut out to the bottom of the plates and ringed pillars. The case is one of the early types with a segmented 8 piece surround and lovely flame mahogany to the drop of the case, 2 side doors and the ivorine plate GWR 2926 affixed to the left hand side. The clock has benefited from an overhauled in the last few years and is excellent working condition complete with key and pendulum.

Nameplate CALDICOT CASTLE. Ex GWR 4-6-0 Locomotive, built Swindon Works December 1923 and numbered 4074. Double chimney and 4 row superheater fitted April 1959. Initially allocated to Old Oak Common, it soon found its way to Swansea, remaining there right up until 1962 when a short spell at Reading then Swindon, saw withdrawal take place in May 1963. Discounting the preserved Caerphilly Castle, this is actually the first of all proper Castles ever built and famously, also took part in the GWR/ LNER locomotive exchange trials of 1925 against Gresley Class A1 Pacific number 4474 Victor Wild, running between Paddington and Portsmouth. Note: The beautiful Caldicot Castle is 5 miles SW of Chepstow, Monmouthshire.

Brecon & Merthyr Railway Brass and Wood Single Line Staff engraved in large letters PANT JUNC AND IVOR JUNC. The section ran from just north of Dowlais Central where, at Ivor Junction, the L&NWR line from Abergavenny joined the line to Brecon. A quite magnificent train staff, the likes of which we have never seen before. Measures 20 in length with thick brass strips screwed to the wood through the entire length and three indented plates bearing the engravings, these alone being 7 long and 1 wide. A substantial piece of very early signalling.

Nameplate PHOENIX. Ex BR/EE 25kv Bo-Bo Class 86 originally numbered E3196. Built by the English Electric Co under works number E3488/E334 in December 1965. Renumbered 86219 under TOPS in October 1973 and was named on the 6th August 1979 at Willesden Depot without ceremony. Withdrawn from service in May 1996 and finally scrapped in 2002 at Easco, Immingham Railfreight Terminal. This plate is a Swindon casting.

GWR Brass Drum clock By Skarratt of Worcester, the white porcelain dial which has enamelled on it J.M.SKARRATT & Cie, PARIS, G.W.R. is in excellent condition with no visible repairs or damage, the brass case has an early number 2054 hand engraved into the side. A nice early clock which has recently been cleaned and overhauled and much rarer than the Kays versions.

London & North Eastern Railway Works Numberplate, 9 x 5, fully tiled and bearing the number 69100 Darlington Works 1902, C/I construction . Ex North Eastern Railway N10 Class Locomotive built in October of 1902 and numbered 1138. Later numbered 9100 by the LNER and finally 69100 by BR in May 1950. Allocated to Gateshead pretty much all of its life. Withdrawn in November 1957. Face only restored in all black long ago.

Worksplate North British Locomotive No 27417 of 1954, brass diamond shape. Ex Standard Gauge 0-4-0DH which went new to Colvilles Ltd, Clydesbridge Steelworks, Cambuslang, where it was numbered 77/52/10 (formerly 2/1: previously 2/15). It transferred with the site to British Steel in March 1970 and was out of use by the middle of that decade being scrapped shortly afterwards. In ex loco condition.

LMS enamel Running-In-Board EARDISLEY. Ex Hereford Hay & Brecon Railway, opened June 1863 and taken over by the Midland Railway a few years later. In 1874, the Kington & Eardisley railway opened and Eardisley became a junction. Measures 60 x 26, cream lettering on maroon ground, cream, inset border. Late LMS style, used only on a relatively small number of stations. Reasonable condition with some chips that are well worth restoring.

Southern Railway enamel Target SOUTHFIELDS. An interesting history being an ex Metropolitan & District Railway station, opened in 1889 and closest to All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club known as Wimbledon. The LSWR opened the extension from East Putney to the Clapham Junction - Barnes Line and worked through the station. The Southern Railway erected Targets but abandoned services through the station in 1941. Good colour and shine, some repairs already filled but not painted. A scarce one for sure.

SWRy District Inspectors 3 aspect Hand lamp. A typical tall DI hand lamp with 'Spry' stamped on the body. It has a brass plate on the reducing cone R.S.W BARLOW WATERLOO. There are signs of a further three other plates that have been removed. Copper lens cone and a drop-in, double skinned reservoir having reflector and unmarked brass burner. An uncommon lamp indeed, stripped to bare metal ready for painting.

Southern Railway enamel Target SHEPPERTON. Ex LSWR terminus at the end of the branch from Strawberry Hill, opened 1 November 1864. The original scheme intended that it would extend to a terminus on the Middlesex bank of the River Thames just north of Chertsey, but this plan was abandoned in 1862. Note: Ian Allan Publishers have their offices at the western end of the station, and the company purchased a Pullman car Malaga for hospitality purposes, which is on static display near the buffers. Good colour and shine, some repairs already filled but not painted.

Eskbank was opened as Gallowshill on 21st June 1847 and retained this name until 1850. It was renamed Eskbank and Dalkeith in 1954 after the Dalkeith terminus Station to the East was closed. Closed 6th January 1969. Good shine with just a couple of face chips, slight staining.

British Railways Signal Box Registers, qty 11 from Longbridge East Signal Box. The first register starts 15th March 1958 to 9th July 1958. The second starts 9th July 1958 to 18th November 1958. Subsequent registers are dated 1961, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967 1968 and 1970. Interestingly, one signalman noted some steam loco numbers in 1964 such as 90204, 42922, 48763, 92025, 90486, 42707, 44092 etc. Two registers are missing covers, the rest are sound. A wonderful record of Austin Works movements.

GWR C/I Signal Box Board NORTH'S COLLIERIES SIGNAL BOX. Next box to Maesteg Neath Road, measures 102 in length. Note: North's Navigation Collieries was the major colliery company in the Maesteg (Llynfi Valley) district. The company owned three large collieries in the Valley: Caerau, Coegnant, and St John's (locally known as Cwmdu Colliery). The company's internal railway system connected the collieries to the G.W. and Port Talbot railways and North's also had running powers over the G.W. and PT track via Cwmdu Sidings.

Re-named RESPITE in 1973. Was in use on Serco Test duties out of Crewe and subsequently sold to Harry Needle Company in June 2004. Noted being cut up by HNRC Staff April 2006 at Crewe.

Dover Harbour wooden Truncheon with William IV crown and the word 'DOVOR' (old spelling) horizontally down the face on a red ground and 'No 12 above the handle. Unpainted, ribbed handle, overall length 18. Extremely good condition. This could well be railway because the note on page 43 of Mitton suggests that the red ground indicates London Chatham & Dover Railway.

LNER cast brass 9 x 5 works numberplate 60913. Ex Gresley 2-6-2 V2 Class locomotive built June 1940 at Darlington. Originally numbered 4884 then renumbered 913 Dec 1946, finally 60913 in August 1948 by BR when this plate would have been fitted. Originally a New England loco, later finding its way to March, Leeds, Tweedmouth and finally Gateshead from where withdrawal took place in October 1964.

Nameplate OTTAWA. The GWR 4-4-0 'Bulldog' Class Locomotive number 3461, built Swindon in February 1904 was withdrawn in October 1947and at this time, J.B. Thorn, the European Manager of Canadian National Railways, having read about the withdrawal in The GWR Magazine, suggested to the GWR that it might be treasured for Canada to have as a keepsake. Viscount Portal agreed and he instructed Swindon Works to mount Ottawa on a suitable plinth along with an engraved plaque for presentation purposes. Shipped to Canada on board the White Star Liner SS Asia and subsequently accepted by the Mayor of Ottawa in November 1948. The plate was eventually deemed 'unwanted' and given away, the recipient only wanting the walnut mounting board! The plate and presentation plaque were repatriated and are now available. The plate has no splasher and has rear, threaded bolts brazed in place for fitting to the walnut presentation board. The plaque also has brazed bolts on rear, interestingly, still retaining the original GWR nuts.

Southern Railway enamel Target KINGSTON. Ex LSWR station between Strawberry Hill and the main line at New Malden Junction. Originally called Kingston Town, it opened on 1 July 1863, and at that time was the terminus of the London & South Western Railway branch line from Twickenham. Good colour and shine, just some edge chipping.

Enamel Advertising Sign 'St Bruno - The Standard Dark Flake'. Measures 60 x 12 and although some large chips, has good colour and shine. Together with a part sign which simply states 'World', believed to be part of 'News Of The World' double sign. Measures 50 x 6 and is extremely good albeit in need of a clean.

Railway Button 'Royal Waggon Train' with 'GR' and Crown in the centre. Mounted in a glazed frame along with an etching of 'An Officer, Private & Driver of the Royal Waggon Train' by C.H.S. Measures 9 x 7 and is in excellent condition although the button is, understandably, well aged.

Alloy Road Sign 'Low Bridge Headroom 15' 9', complete with all beads intact in the top panel. The height is on a separate, screw-on panel at the bottom of the sign, this too has beads but some are missing. Measures 14 x 21 approximately, in totally unrestored condition with original post mounting brackets still attached.

British Railways Hanging Card Timetables, qty 5 all for Diesel & Steam Trains between Shrewsbury and Hereford, with an image at the top of a Castle Class on an express and a 6 car DMU . Each measure 15 x 12, all are different colours and comprise: Sept 1960 to June 1961 (green, centre crease); Sept 1961 to June 1962 (maroon); June to September 1962 (blue, slightly larger); Sept 1962 until June 1963 (red). Together with a larger Train Departures Hanging Card 'West Cornwall' until Sept 1970, (two creases); a pair of card Train Departures Marlow - Bourne End - Cookham, one until May 1971, the other until April 1972 (shows a DMU and maps of station locations at bottom) and three identical Left Luggage Charges cards.

Totem, BR(NE) LEEDS CENTRAL, H/F. Ex NER, GNR, L&YR & LNWR Joint terminus in the industrial heart of Yorkshire. Opened in 1854 to replace the singularly tiny L&NWR Leeds Wellington Street station. Closed 1st May 1967 with Leeds City station taking on all trains to and from the city. Dulled over the years and has some edge and other retoration but quite a scarcity nevertheless.

Smokebox Numberplate 3826. Ex GWR 2800 Class 2-8-0 loco built Swindon September 1940. First allocation was Pontypool Road and it spent most of its later years there. It was finally withdrawn from Severn Tunnel Junction in December 1965 and was cut up at Cashmores Newport the following Spring. Face restored, rear ex loco.

London Transport enamel bullseye sign EARLS COURT. Opened on the 12th April 1869 by the Metropolitan District Railway and was originally on the east side of Earls Court Road rather than the current location on the west. Rectangular, measuring 28 x 22 and in extremely good condition, mounted in a later wooden frame.

A large, interesting Staple Machine and an official Booklet entitled 'Standard water Pipes & Fittings & Fire Appliances' dated Sept 1921, inside cover bears stamp 'GWR Wolverhampton Drawing Office 8th Sept 1930.

Glass Negatives, a substantial collection of 11 original 'Imperial Plate Company' boxes (plus some loose), predominantly recording the opening of the Great Central Railway Immingham Docks on the 22nd July 1912 by King George V. During the ceremony Sam Fay the General Manager of the GCR was knighted. Also, subsequent images of the docks in the days and months following the opening. An additional box of plates is marked 'Aldersgate Depot 1907' and another box 'Opening Of The St Helens Branch'. Quality images from the era, many ships including the Steamer 'Killingholme', the Royal Train, people in Edwardian dress. Quite magnificent. Owing to the historic and fragile nature of the material, viewing will be strictly controlled, this archive material cannot be lost.

Nameplate LOCH SHEIL. Ex LNER K2 Class 2-6-0 locomotive built by Kitson & Co under works number 5343 in July 1921. Originally numbered 4693, it was named in March 1933 whilst carrying this number. It became 1783 in January 1946 and finally 61783 under BR in April 1948. Allocated initially to Eastfield to work the Fort William and Mallaig services. In 1952 was transferred to Keith. Withdrawn in June 1959.
