Wall mounted cast iron post box Edward VII and Crown. Complete with lock, key missing and front wire basket present. Makers name WT Allen & Co London cast into front. In original condition and one of the door pins needs replacing. Measures 28.5in x 10.5in x 13in deep.
Advertising Signs Sold for: £300A collection of 6 BR(NE) Totem Cap badges to include; BRITISH RAILWAY gilt, GUARD gilt, PORTER chrome, FOREMAN chrome, TICKET COLLECTOR chrome and EXCESS LUGGAGE chrome. All are in excellent condition with makers name J R Gaunt London on the back and 4 have original clips. A ready made collection from the smallest and most desirable BR region.
Badges / Buttons Sold for: £550Shedplate 65A Eastfield 1948-November 1966 for steam. This ex NBR shed housed a star studded allocation of 170 locos in the early 1950s. Of note were K1, K2, and K4 2-6-0s, along with D11 and D34 4-4-0s. By 1965, however the total number of steam locos was down to single figures. Many of Eastfields diesel locos also carried this style of code well in to the 1970s. In restored condition with the Scottish District shed casting pattern number etc cast into the back, this is the pattern with smaller numerals and letter.
Shedplates / Plaques Sold for: £85Shedplate 55A Leeds Holbeck October 1956-October 1967 closed to steam. The ex MR shed at Holbeck was transferred from the LMR 20A to the NER in 1956. 80 locos were present when this change took place, but it is probably the early 1960s that it is well remembered. Its allocation of A3s, Jubilees and Royal Scots, were often seen working over the Settle and Carlisle line. It also had an allocation of Class 45 Peaks, and many of these carried this style of plate. In restored condition.
Shedplates / Plaques Sold for: £70Shedplate 16C Kirkby-in-Ashfield 1935-October 1955, then Mansfield October 1955-April 1960, then Derby September 1963-March 1967 for steam. The ex MR shed at Kirkby had over 60 locos in the 1950s. Mansfield, another MR shed had 30 locos when it adopted this code. Finally, Derby-the MR HQ-had 40 steam locos, along with numerous diesels that also used this code. Lightly face restored.
Shedplates / Plaques Sold for: £100Great Northern Railway Guards watch No 1216. In a nickel case with a English lever movement with top wind and lever set movement marked J.J. Stockall & Sons 6 & 8 Clerkenwell Rd London No 13826. J.J. Stockall & Sons London is also enamelled onto the dial which is free from cracks and chips. The rear of case is hand engraved GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY 1216. In excellent working condition and one the best examples we have ever seen of a GNR watch.
Watches Sold for: £500London Brighton and South Coast Railway nickel cased pocket watch with American Waltham Watch Co movement 21217345 which dates the movement to circa 1918, top wound and top set. The nickel case is hand engraved inside LONDON BRIGHTON & SOUTH COAST RAILWAY 885. The dial is free from chips and cracks and is marked Waltham. In good working condition.
Watches Sold for: £200GWR mahogany framed and glazed carriage panel advertising RESTAURANT CAR SERVICES FOR 1st AND 3rd CLASS PASSENGERS ON PRINCIPAL EXPRESSES and LUNCHEON AND TEA BASKETS OBTAINABLE AT IMPORTANT STATIONS & JUNCTIONS in gold print on white card. Dated March 1930. In excellent condition complete with wooden panel and ventilator knob and flap and CL 3076 stamped in the back and all hinges stamped GWR, measures 20in x 12in. Note this is different to the other elsewhere in this auction.
Carriage Prints Sold for: £140Carriage Print ENTRANCE TO PORTSMOUTH HARBOUR by Donald Maxwell from the Original Southern Railway series, issued in 1936. In an original style glazed frame. Print with mount measures 14in x 9in A very rare print having only appeared twice before at auction in excellent condition.
Carriage Prints Sold for: £150Smokebox numberplate 41100 ex LMS Fowler Compound 4-4-0 built by the North British Locomotive Company, Glasgow in 1925. Allocated to Accrington, Goole, Agecroft, Wigan Central, Spital Bridge, Blackpool Central and 20A Holbeck from where it was withdrawn in March 1959 and scrapped at Crewe works. Lightly face restored.
Smokebox Numberplates Sold for: £500
