MS&L 12in convex dial mahogany cased chain driven fusee railway clock. The mahogany case with a one piece turned surround has one side door and a bottom door. The rectangular plated movement with shaped shoulders and ringed pillars has chain drive to the fusee. The original convex dial is lettered I.Simmons, 9 St Anne's Sqe Manchester 216 and visible as ghosted writing is LNER 7400. A full account of this clocks restoration by DR D.R.Parr accompanies the lot as well as copies of the LNER records which show it was in use at Scawby and probably dates from around the opening in 1849.
