A lovely old plate in unrestored condition taken from a steamroller owned by Walter William Buncombe of Highbridge who hired out steam rollers to use with the construction of roads and Highways in Somerset. WW Buncombe of Highbridge owned at one time over 150 steam rollers in it's yard next to the River Brue in Huntspill Road. It's telephone number of 12 suggest a thriving business in Edwardian times. A garage now occupies the site.
