Shedplate 88A Cardiff Cathays 1949-December 1957, then Cardiff Radyr December 1957-October 1960, then Cardiff Canton October 1960-September 1962. The ex TVR shed at Cathays had an allocation of 80 locos, while ex GWR shed Radyr had 55 locos during this period. Ex GWR Canton
Auction: July 2024 Sold for: £120Shedplate 83D Plymouth Laira 1949-September 1963, recoded 84A, closed to steam April 1964. This ex GWR depot had between 80 and 100 locos during the period it used this code. At one time it had 18 Castles, 3 Counties, 1 star, 11 Halls, 2 Granges , 4 Manors and last but not least, 10 Kings. It was also home to Class 41/43 Warships and Class 52 Westerns, many being noted carrying these cast iron steam codes. Face restored and a later pattern so may have been carried on one of its early Hydraulics.
Auction: March 2024 Sold for: £250Shedplate 65A Eastfield 1948-November 1966 for steam. This ex NBR shed housed a star studded allocation of 170 locos in the early 1950s. Of note were K1, K2, and K4 2-6-0s, along with D11 and D34 4-4-0s. By 1965, however the total number of steam locos was down to single figures. Many of Eastfields diesel locos also carried this style of code well in to the 1970s. Face restored with the Scottish District shed casting pattern number etc cast into the back.
Auction: July 2023 Sold for: £70Shedplate 55F Bradford Manningham February 1957 to April 1967, then Bradford Hammerton Street December 1967 to 1973. The ex MR shed at Manningham, formerly 20E in the LMR, had 25 locos on its books when using this code. The former GNR shed at Hammerton Street was converted into a diesel depot and many of its allocation of DMUs and diesel shunters carried this code. Restored over original paint.
Auction: July 2023 Sold for: £80Shedplate 2F Coventry 1935 to July 1950, Market Harborough October 1955-February 1958, then Woodford Halse February 1958-September 1963, finally Bescot September 1963-closed to steam March 1966. The ex LNWR shed at Coventry had just 12 loco while Market Harborough had only 6 locos. Ex GCR Woodford Halse had 50 during the period it used this code. Finally ex LNWR shed Bescot had over 60 locos in its care, and a few Class 08 shunters also carried this code. Lightly face restored rear original.
Auction: July 2023 Sold for: £80Shedplate 86B Newport Pill 1949-September 1963, then Newport Ebbw Junction September 1963-October 1965. This tiny ex ADR two road shed in the docklands area of Newport was home to about 60 locos in the 1950s. On closure the code was adopted by Ebbw Junction 86A. Having once been home to 150 locos in the 1950s, it now housed around 80 which included a handful of Halls and Granges. In as removed condition, with clear Swindon casting marks on the rear.
Auction: May 2023 Sold for: £150Shedplate 16C Kirkby-in-Ashfield 1935-October 1955, then Mansfield October 1955-April 1960, then Derby September 1963-March 1967 for steam. The ex MR shed at Kirkby had over 60 locos in the 1950s. Mansfield, another MR shed had 30 locos when it adopted this code. Finally, Derby-the MR HQ-had 40 steam locos, along with numerous diesels that also used this code. Lightly face restored.
Auction: March 2023 Sold for: £100Shedplate 55A Leeds Holbeck October 1956-October 1967 closed to steam. The ex MR shed at Holbeck was transferred from the LMR 20A to the NER in 1956. 80 locos were present when this change took place, but it is probably the early 1960s that it is well remembered. Its allocation of A3s, Jubilees and Royal Scots, were often seen working over the Settle and Carlisle line. It also had an allocation of Class 45 Peaks, and many of these carried this style of plate. In restored condition.

Auction: March 2023 Sold for: £85Shedplate 30A Stratford 1949-September 1962 for steam. The ex GER shed at Stratford had the largest allocation of any depot in the United Kingdom, with a total of nearly 400 locos. It was mostly noted for its Sandringham's and Britannias in steam days and the diesel depot continued using this code until May 1973. Face restored.
Auction: November 2022 Sold for: £90Shedplate 75D Horsham 1950 to July 1959, then Stewarts Lane June 1962 to September 1963 for steam. This ex LBSCR shed had 15 locos when it lost its code and became a sub shed of Three Bridges and the Brighton. The ex SECR shed at Stewarts Lane had 45 locos when using this code. On becoming a diesel and electric depot, several of its allocation also carried this code. In restored condition with the BR(S) Eastleigh triangle cast into the back and typical Southern region casting marks on the front.
