Shedplate 30A Stratford 1949-September 1962 for steam. The ex GER shed at Stratford had the largest allocation of any depot in the United Kingdom, with a total of nearly 400 locos. It was mostly noted for its Sandringham's and Britannias in steam days and the diesel depot continued using this code until May 1973. Face restored.
Shedplates / Plaques Sold for: £90London & North Western Railway 12 inch dial mahogany cased railway clock with a spun brass bezel supplied by Thwaites & Reed of Clerkenwell in 1887. The large rectangular plated chain driven English fusee movement has turned pillars and is stamped on the front plate T&R 15185. The dial has been partly restored in places and displays JOHN WALKER 1 SOUTH MOLTON ST LONDON 13919. The case has one side door and a bottom door and is stamped 13919 on the backbox. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. A nice clock by one of the top dial clock makers.
Clocks Sold for: £450GWR brass drum clock with original enamel dial GWR KAY & CO PARIS. Stamped 4401 on the case, back and movement so has the 3 matching numbers. The French movement has had the GWR modified winder fitted. In good working condition recently professionally cleaned and oiled. Dial measures 3.25in diameter and is free from chips and has a few minor hairline cracks.
ClocksSmokebox numberplate 44480 ex LMS Fowler 4F 0-6-0 built by the North British Locomotive Company, Glasgow in 1927 as works number 23649 and numbered LMS 4480. Allocated to Low Moor and 16A Nottingham from where it was withdrawn in March 1960 and scrapped at Crewe Works. Face restored. See the worksplate elsewhere in this auction.
Smokebox Numberplates Sold for: £300Great Northern Railway Platform Oil Lamp with lamp glass NAVENBY. Complete with original reservoir steel plated Navenby, burner and glass brandy glass chimney which has a small crack at the base, stands 22in tall. From the former station between Lincoln and Grantham.
Lamps Station Sold for: £350Worksplate GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY MAKERS DONCASTER No 814 1899 ex Ivatt C12 4-4-2 T numbered GNR 1503, LNER 4503, 7361 and BR 67361. Allocated to Louth, New England and 53B Hull Botanic Gardens from where it was withdrawn in April 1955 and scrapped at Doncaster Works. Oval cast brass, face restored, measures 10.75in x 6.5in.
Worksplates Steam Sold for: £500Totem BR(SC) FF INVERESK from the former North British Railway station between Edinburgh and Dunbar. In excellent condition.
Totem Signs Sold for: £1,200Nameplate ST ALBAN'S HEAD ex LB&SCR Marsh Class H1 4-4-2 Atlantic built in 1912 at Brighton and numbered LB&SCR 426, SR 2426 and BR 32426. Allocated to Newhaven and 75A Brighton from where it was withdrawn in August 1956 and scrapped at Brighton Works. Curved cast brass nicely polished.
Nameplates Steam Sold for: £4,500Nameplate set JOHN H CARLESS V.C. together with its oval naming plaque THIS LOCOMOTIVE WAS NAMED TO COMMEMORATE THE 75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE AWARD TO JOHN H CARLESS VC AND WAS PRESENTED BY THE ROYAL NAVAL ASSOCIATION and HMS CALEDON plaque. As carried by British Railways diesel Class 31 31107. New to 31B March 4/59 as D5525. Named at Bescot Depot Open Day August 1992. Nameplates removed July 1995 on withdrawal. Scrapped at Ron Hull Junior, Rotherham. All 3 plates are in as removed condition, nameplate measures 80.5in x 10in and plaques 28in x 9.75in and 16.75in x 12.75in. A rare chance to obtain a plate with a Victoria Cross recipient.
Nameplates Diesel Sold for: £2,500
