GCR Platform Lamp complete with interior having an oval brass plate 'The Reform Lighting Co., London'. The original, brown paint suggests it may have come from a GW/GCR Joint station within the London extension. Good overall condition but a small area of rusting through on the chimney.

Great Northern Railway large Signal Lamp plated on the reducing cone STATHERN STN. Also has the GNR brass plate attached but this has some loss. No interior and the front bullseye lens has been replaced with a flat piece of glass. Stathern was on the Leicester Belgrave Road to Grantham line between Long Clawson & Hose and Redmile. It was a joint station with the L&NWR.

LNWR Fletchers 9 position Receiving Train Describer in a green painted, C/I case and mounted on a wooden base. Ex Shrewsbury, the segments indicate:- Hereford Line; Through Freight; Tarmac GF (written); Freight To Yard; Engine After Turning; Crossover And Return; Not Described Or Shunt; Welshpool Line. Rear case screws missing otherwise extremely good condition.

Totem BR(W) STRATFORD - UPON - AVON, H/F. Ex GWR station in the heart of Shakespeare Land in Warwickshire, opened 12 th July 1859 by the OWWR as a branch terminus from Honeybourne. Extremely good condition with slight loss of shine and some edge restoration. Most from this location suffered badly from the local, industrial atmosphere.

GWR (stamped) small Flare Lamp, the handle of which is clearly inscribed 'Fitters Shop - West Ealing'. Together with a small quantity of Signalling items to include x 2 Traffolite Lever Plates with the following inscriptions:- Interlocking Lever For Mousehole Siding G.F; Down Branch Starting To Oil Siding. These were used in one of the Paddington area Boxes. Also a brass Lever Plate No 20 'Interlocking With Temporary Siding Ground Frame; a C/I WR Signal Dept C/I Locking device. Finally, 5 items of telecoms equipment including wooden cased telephone with bakelite ear & mouthpieces, a pair of extension bell devices; a Relay unit and an Indicator. All ex Signal Box condition.

GWR Carriage Ventilator Panel carrying an advert for Communication between Passenger, Guard and Driver plus Luncheon & Tea Baskets available at a multitude of GWR Stations, Paddington July 1903. The wooden frame has the large number 1580 in shadow lettering with also the letter 'C', possibly from a Clerestory Coach, the back being branded CL 1229. The 'Ventilator Push To Shut' button has a little damage but the ivorine plate is still intact. Ex carriage condition, believed to have originated from a carriage that at one time resided at Bengrove near Gretton, Gloucestershire. Together with a Carriage Print of the Diagram Map of The Great Western Railway Showing Routes, Principal Stations & Junctions. In original glazed frame.

GWR brass cased Drum Clock bearing the manufacturers name 'J.M. Skarratt & Co Paris' at the dial top and 'G.W.R. beneath the VI. Case is engraved with the number 2356 but the case and movement isn't marked. enamel has detached by the IIII and the face has a number of enamel cracks. Nevertheless, it is in full working order.

Smokebox Numberplate 45011. Ex Stanier 4-6-0 Black 5 Locomotive, built Crewe Works in April 1935. A Scottish Loco for many years working out of Perth depot for 6 years and also allocated to Inverness, Eastfield, Grangemouth and Corkerhill. Withdrawn from Carstairs on 28/12/65 and cut up at Motherwell Machinery & Scrap, Wishaw. Face restored, rear ex loco.

South African Railways brass Bunker Plate 4001, measuring 7 x 4. Ex SAR class GEA 4-8-2 + 2-8-4 Beyer-Garratt locomotive 4001. Built under the authority of the Ministry of Works, the fifty locomotives of this type, built in the UK by Beyer Peacock, were delivered to South Africa immediately after WWII, cleaned and shot blasted by the current vendor. Accompanying this lot is the official South African Railways purchase receipt dated 22-09-1976.

Caledonian Railway 13 Mahogany cased fusee drop dial Clock by Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach Germany. The clock is in excellent working order and the case is retains its original finish however the lenticle window glass is missing, but this is a relatively easy item to replace. The original dial writing reads Caledonian Rail Co and has not been messed around with. The vendor first came across this clock in use at his office in the former North British Hotel in George Square Glasgow, the clock then followed him around throughout his career with British Railways and was purchased upon retirement. A nice pre grouping Scottish clock in untouched condition but In full working order complete with pendulum and key.

Carriage Print 'Leigh-on-Sea, Essex' by Charles King from the LNER post-war series, 1953. At the shore is an old established fishing community. That happens to be the view from the train and Charles King took this for his inspiration. Thankfully a sixties proposal for a seafront relief road to sweep this view away never materialised. A just discernable line on the horizon is Southend Pier. VGC. In original style frame & glazed.

Smokebox Numberplate 45287. Ex Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 Locomotive, built by Armstrong Whitworth in December 1936 under Works number 1342. Allocations include Bescot, Tyseley, Shrewsbury, Edge Hill, Patricroft and Rose Grove. Made it pretty well until the very end of steam, indeed it was seen in steam on the 3rd August 1968 at Lostock Hall and was withdrawn from there that very day. Sent to TW Ward Beighton in February 1969 for disposal.

Worksplate North British Locomotive Company Glasgow No 25876 of 1946, brass diamond. Ex Thompson 4-6-0 B1 Class Locomotive numbered 1120, later 61120. Allocated initially to Doncaster and ending its days at Retford from where withdrawal took place on 31 January 1965. Cut up 2 months later at Marples & Gillots, Sheffield.

Nameplate 'St. Peter's School York AD627', reflective brushed aluminium style. Ex Inter City 125 Locomotive number 43152 named originally at York Station on 05/11/84 by Wing Commander J S P Phillips DFC, former pupil at school and one of the construction team of V2 No. 4818 which carried the name of the school from 1939. The naming date was selected as Guy Fawkes was also a pupil at the school. The original, cast nameplates were removed and replaced with this reflective type in June 1991. These were removed again in March 1996 when the locomotive changed operator.

Nameplate SIR URRE OF THE MOUNT King Arthur Class. Ex Southern Railway 'Scotch Arthur', built by the North British Locomotive Works in September 1925 under works number 23284. Originally numbered 788 and later 30788. Allocations include Nine Elms and Eastleigh. Withdrawn from service in February 1962. Measures 52 in length, face restored, rear ex loco and clearly stamped '788'. From legend, Urre had slain a Spanish earl's son called Sir Alphegus but in doing so had been severely wounded. Sir Launcelot cured his wounds and in celebration, a joust was held which Urre won and was, as a result, knighted by King Arthur.

GWR C/I Cabside Numberplate 6356. Ex GWR 2-6-0 'Mogul' Class, built Swindon 30th November 1923. Allocations include Cardiff, Newton Abbot and Westbury from where withdrawal took place w/e 12/1/63. Sold to Cashmore Newport on 21/10/63 and taken into breaker yard 20/6/64. Stamped in top rim with loco class and bottom rim with boiler class. Face restored, rear original.

Merchant Navy Nameplate 'Wings' from an ex Southern Railway Bulleid Merchant Navy Pacific. One states MERCHANT the other NAVY. Totally original with red background paint, one have much removed. It is known that some nameplates did 'lose' their wings in the final days of steam so here is the first opportunity to arise to reunite the missing pieces.

Nameplate TROJAN. Ex NBL Type 4 B-B Class 43 Warship Hydraulic number D856. Built at the North British Locomotive Works in November 1961 under works number 27985 and allocated new to Plymouth Laira for working the West of England Expresses to and from Paddington. Withdrawn May 1971 and cut up in January 1972 at BREL Swindon. Face restored with a couple of small holes have been filled in the letters , these were known to have been used to mount the plate in one of the Victoria Station Restaurants in the USA , traces of blue paint around the edge

BR(E) Running-in-Board HORNSEY. In two separate but manageable sections, 24 x 67 and 24 x 56. Good condition overall. Together with the matching Signalbox Diagram in a frame 'HORNSEY'. Ex GNR location on the East Coast main line between Harringay and Wood Green. Also, a framed Signalbox Diagram WIGSTON SOUTH JUNCTION, 60 x 24. Wigston South Junction signal box was located just north of the former Wigston Magna station and was opened in 1900.

South African Industrial Locomotive Nameplate ISIBUTU. Ex Bagnall 2' Gauge 4-4-0T number 2374 built 1929 for use at the Tongaat Sugar Mills. There were 14 similar locos in use at Tongaat and it is well known that boilers and other parts were frequently swapped around. It is known that ISIBUTU nameplate found its way to the UK and was fitted to Bagnall 2820, originally named EGOLOMI. The plate measures 23

Nameplate 'Bristol Evening Post', cast aluminium type. Ex Inter City 125 Locomotive number 43150, named at Bristol Temple Meads Station on 4th October 1988 by Cllr Derek Tedder, Lord Mayor of Bristol. The naming was to celebrate the twinning of local Bristol evening newspaper with BR. Removed in approx 1991 when replaced with the new reflective, brushed alloy type.

GWR brass Signal Box Lever Plates, x 3 to include a huge 21 example with not only number 15 Down Siding Start'g at the top but 25 lever numbers. The other 2 has 65 From Bay To Down Main Adv'c'd Start'g with 6 lever numbers and 32 Disc For No 35 and 4 lever numbers. All are rib less and in pretty much ex box condition. Believed to be from the Gloucester area. Together with Midland Railway brass Signal Box Lever Plates, x 2 with the following inscriptions: Signal From Shunting Sidings To Dead End (on the rear it has Signal Down Sidings To Up Line) and Main Line Crossover. Together with a couple of LMS (W) ornate brass Carriage Window Strap Adjusters.

LNWR Fletchers 15 position Pegging Train Describer in a green, C/I case with brass faced rim containing the holes to insert the peg. Ex Shrewsbury, there are 11 segments described: Crewe Line; From Hereford Terminating; Eng To Severn Bdge End; From Welshpool Terminating; Loop Line; Pass To Wellington Via Loop; Eng To Crewe JCT End; Eng To Turn And Return; Coton Hill Yd Via No 4 Plat (dymo tape). Complete with pegging pin and in excellent condition overall.

L&NWR Nameplate 'HERCULES'. Curved brass measuring 49 in length, wax filled engraving with 'L&NWR Co May' one end and 'Crewe 1877' the other end. Between 'Crewe' and '1877' it has been stamped 'Rebuilt /97'. Ex L&NWR 'Renewed Precedent' Class 2-4-0 locomotive number 1105, designed by FW Webb and known as 'Jumbos'. Taken in to LMS Stock and numbered LMS 5077. Finally scrapped in July 1928.

LNER Poster 'North East Dales' by E Byatt, Q/R size (Poster To Poster Vol 2 p175). A beautiful view of possibly Wensleydale looking down the valley and a shepherd herding his flock past the ruins of a church. Published by the LNER and printed by Waterlow. Has a later added 'Take Holidays Early' sticker applied to the bottom margin. Folds with some clean tears and some other minor defects, otherwise vibrant and certainly a very tasteful poster.

BR Poster 'Royal Border Bridge - Berwick Upon Tweed', by Cuneo, Q/R size. Depicts a most evocative view of a Gresley V2 crossing the bridge with a freight train. Published by the Railway Executive North Eastern Region, printed by Chromoworks. This was the first poster produced for the then newly-formed British Railways by the artist. Mounted on acid free paper. Some tape staining right edge and some other defects/border loss but overall good and sound. Not a common poster.

Stockton & Darlington Railway Rule Book dated 1862. A magnificent piece of British history, printed by William Lee, Horse Market, Darlington for issue to company employees. Maroon vellum covers with gold lettering, contains 67 pages. Inside the front cover is pencilled the owners name. He was the vendor's grandfather's grandfather and worked his railway career at Birtley Station near Newcastle. Very good condition for age, with a small amount of internal foxing and amendment marks.

Totem BR(Sc) 'KILMACOLM' F/F. Ex Glasgow and South Western Railway station on the Paisley to Greenock Princes Pier route. The Kilmacolm to Princes Pier section was closed to passengers in 1959, and the Kilmacolm branch was the last Scottish passenger closure in 1983. Virtually mint, a rare Scottish totem only twice at auction before.

London Brighton and South Coast Railway silver Station Masters pocket watch. The silver case is hallmarked for Birmingham 1902 and bears the case makers initials A.L.D., the inside hinged movement dust cover is hand engraved LONDON BRIGHTON & SOUTH COAST RAILWAY No 628 and is in pristine condition. The American Waltham watch company 15 jewelled top wound and set movement is in excellent working order and the enamel dial is clean and free from chips and cracks. Measures 50mm in diameter and 20mm thick. Accompanying the watch is the official BR receipt dated 2nd November 1995 and is headed 'Watches retained on retirement, guards regulator, J.Chalcraft London Bridge Station'. A superb survivor.

Tyers Train Describer, ex Malago Vale Signal Box, Bristol. A magnificent item with top and bottom dials each showing no less than 11 well known locations in the Bristol area including: Portishead; Cheddar Valley; Clevedon; Weston; Parson Street; Marsh Junction; Bath Road Engine Shed; Philip's Marsh Engine Shed, etc. Malago Vale box was situated south of Bristol Temple Meads and first opened in April 1880. The second box opened in April 1932 and closed in April 1970.

Midland Railway block instrument dated 1880 and bearing a Traffolite plate 'WATER ORTON EAST'. Together with the Illuminated Signal Box Diagram from the same box (73x 24). Water Orton is situated at the junction of the line to Derby and the line to Nuneaton just beyond Castle Bromwich.

Totem BR(W) HAGLEY, F/F. Ex GWR (OWWR) Station between Stourbridge Junction and Blakedown on the Worcester to Wolverhampton route. Opened in May 1852, it retains the original cast and wrought iron monogrammed GWR canopied footbridge, erected in 1884. Almost mint condition, we've never seen a better one.

To the left is a dismounted Rider with his horse being tended by a Groom whilst the Riders dog looks on. To the right is the Huntsman, mounted on his steed whilst a small pack of Hounds await. Slight surface wear and a few peripheral areas of expert restoration makes this one of the most desirable signs to come to market. Comes with a matching glass bottle embossed with the same maker.

GWR Nameplate, HOPTON GRANGE with matching brass cabside numberplate 6865, matching Smokebox Numberplate and 81D Shedplate. Ex GWR 6800 Grange Class 4-6-0 Locomotive built Swindon March 1939. An Old Oak Common loco for many years and later Reading, then Carmarthen, Gloucester, Laira, Ebbw Junction and St Philips Marsh from where it was withdrawn on 8 May 1962 and cut up at Swindon Works in June 1962. The nameplate is clearly stamped 'R 6865' on the rear indicating this to be the right hand plate. Note: Hopton Grange was Monastic Grange five miles south of Montgomery, Powys.

Webb & Thompson Single Line Staff, brass plated at the end CRANLEIGH - BAYNARDS. Ex London Brighton & South Coast section between Rudgwick and Bramley & Wonersh on the old Guildford to Christ's Hospital route. Both stations opened in 1865 and closed in 1965. Baynards has a very interesting history, not least of which being the location for the early BBC adaptation of The Railway Children. Cranleigh served the famous school and the ex Southern Railway Schools Class CRANLEIGH was named after it.

Original Oil Painting 'Moorswater Shed' by Don Breckon (Guild of Railway Artists). Painted by the artist is 1976, it shows a very rustic scene of ex GWR Locos 5502 and 4565, being readied for duty. The two-road engine shed at Moorswater, Cornwall was on the Liskeard & Looe branch, built in 1893 by the Liskeard & Looe Railway. The shed disappeared in 1963. Oil on canvas measuring 28 x 20. Midland Railway mahogany cased Rotary Block Instrument plated 'DN LINE'. enamel dial showing the three positions beneath which is a three position knob with brass backing indicator plate. Both buttons intact and the brass frame has a British Railways 13401?1 notice within numbered 25. A substantial instrument, clearly stamped 'MRCo' in several places. Looks to be in excellent, ex box condition.

Rhondda and Swansea Bay Railway 12 dial mahogany cased drop dial trunk clock by Skarratt of Worcester circa 1885. The chain drive fusee movement has been stripped and manually cleaned and is in full working order it features shaped shoulders, cut out to the bottom and tapered pillars. The original dial now reads GWR in the block style but clearly in ghosted writing you can make out SKARRATT WORCESTER R&SBR, the case is made from mahogany and features a one piece wooden dial surround with a spun brass bezel. This clock is the only known clock wall mounted clock to have surfaced from this small welsh company which was opened in 1885 , worked by the GWR from 1906 and finally grouped into the GWR in 1922. In full working order complete with pendulum and key.

GWR Nameplate HANNINGTON HALL and matching Cabside Numberplate 5930. Ex GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 Locomotive built at Swindon Works in June 1933 and numbered 5930. Initial allocation on release to traffic was Wolverhampton Oxley. First BR depot 1/1/48 was Banbury then Tyseley from 9/59. Withdrawn 7/9/62 and sold to Cashmore Great Bridge on 23/9/63 and taken into their yard on 3/12/63. Of interest, Hannington Hall was built in 1653 in the village of Hannington, just outside Swindon. The nameplate has remained untouched for circa 50 years since delivery from BR, the cabside had the paint stripped off at that time but it too has been untouched since.

Tilbury was once a great passenger port and special boat trains from St Pancras were still connecting with the liners at Tilbury when this print was issued in the early 1950s. Ceased when Rufford Junction signal box closed in June 1968 and the section became Mansfield Colliery Junction to Rufford Colliery with associated signal boxes. Ex box condition.
