Nameplate ST MAWES CASTLE. Ex GWR Castle 4-6-0 locomotive built Swindon in 1932 numbered 5018. First allocation was Old Oak Common in August 1932 other allocations included Newton Abbot, Stafford Road, 82A Bristol Bath Road, 82C Swindon, 85B Gloucester Horton Road, 86C Cardiff Canton and lastly 81D Reading from where it was withdrawn in March 1964, Scrapped at Cohens Kettering in November 1964. In lightly cleaned original condition and stamped in the back LIN No 5018 Lot 280 indicating this is the left hand plate. One of only a few Cornish named Castles and the first time either plate has been available at auction.
