Midland Railway 12in oak cased drop dial English fusee railway clock by John Hummel of Derby circa 1850. The case with a convex and concave surround, 2 side doors and a bottom door secured with a lock, has the LMS numberplate 12181 fixed onto the drop. The original dial has been restored as per the original writing and evidence of the A-M telegraphic letters are still visible as ghosted letters. The brass fusee movement has rectangular plates with shaped shoulders. No record survives for this clock however clock numbers 12180 and 12182 are recorded as being at the Signals and Telegraph Department Leicester so this clock was probably also used there. Complete with pendulum and key and original Dr D.R. Parr sheet detailing its restoration and provenance.
