Nameplate and badge SAPPER. Ex Ministry of Defence Austerity 0-6-0ST built by the Hunslet Engine Company in 1953 as works number 3797. Delivered new to the MOD at Bicester and numbered WD 197, it then worked at various Army locations including Longmoor in 1957, before going back to the Command Ordnance Depot at Bicester where it was named Sapper in May 1965. In 1977 it went to the Kent & East Sussex Railway where during its first two years it remained Army property and was sold to K&ESR members in October 1979. The nameplates were not available so it was renamed Northiam. Rectangular cast brass with integral badge and metal mounting plate, measures 25in x 16in. In good condition.
