LNER fully engraved brass Worksplate 'LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY Co No 1601 DONCASTER 1924'. Ex A3 Gresley 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotive No 2545, DIAMOND JUBILEE. Renumbered No 46 in 1946, becoming 60046 in BR days. Entered traffic to Kings Cross MPD in August 1924. Allocations include Grantham, Copley Hill, Doncaster and New England. Withdrawn from Grantham in June 1963 and cut up just a few months later. Stamped on the rim and on the rear '2545' and also '46'. Named after the famous Racehorse Diamond Jubilee, owned by H.R.H. Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) and winner in 1900 of the Derby, the 2000 Guineas and the St. Leger. A truly magnificent worksplate offered significantly in this special year of H.R.H Queen Elizabeth's own Diamond Jubilee.
