GWR brass cased Master Steam Boiler Pressure Gauge used for test purposes and in original, sliding lid box with leather strap handle. This impressive, 7 gauge, manufactured by Dewrance, London, is a duplex style instrument with left and right calibrated dials to 300 lbs/sq. inch. The brass surround is clearly stamped 'GWR 16 - 2 - 21'. It was used by well known and respected Boiler Inspector Jack Barrass. He used this very instrument throughout his working career and beyond within the preservation movement. Just imagine the locos that this device would have tested over the last 85 years or so.
