Enamel station direction signs have always been popular because the station name appears, generally with a pointing arrow. Invariably double sided and with the British Railways totem logo as a header and in the various regional colour. Over the years many have been split to sell individual sides, usually at a premium as opposed to keeping wholly double sided. Even the simple variety with nothing more than Station or more scarce Stations are very collectable. Occasionally, earlier than British Railway direction signs are discovered, particularly London & North Eastern Railway and  London Midlands & Scottish Railway. These too are usually enamel and are as desirable as the BR examples.
