Worksplate SUPER SENTINEL PATENT LOCO No 6710 ex 4w loco new to LNER as 8401, purchased for use by Engineers Dept. at Lowestoft Beach. It had the distinction of being wrongly renumbered twice. Allocated 7773 in the 1943 scheme, it was given that number in 1946, when it should have been 8131, it got that number in 1953, instead of 68131. Then to Engineers Dept 39 in 1956, the works numberplate read 7773 Worked at Lowestoft , Norwich, then Cambridge, Chesterton P Way Depot and was withdrawn in April 1963. Cast brass in as removed condition, measures 9.975in x 5.25in. Together with its LNER 9x5 works numberplate LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY 7773 REBUILT STRATFORD WORKS. Oval cast brass lightly face cleaned, measures 9in x 5in. Rare to get a matched pair.
