Worksplate, North British Locomotive Company Glasgow No 27292 of 1953, brass diamond shaped. SAR 4-8-4 class 25NC number 3406, an early member of this famous class of express engine. This was built in Glasgow as a non-condensing engine from new and worked out of Bloemfontein and latterly De Aar before withdrawal in the late 1970's. Sister 3407 was a particularly well known classmate which carried green livery for a while & still survives
