Worksplate, Great Western Railway & Co. Swindon No. 757 Dec 1878. Ex 0-6-0ST from Class 1076, also known as 'Buffaloes'. One of a class of 266, it was built under Lot No 48 at Swindon Works and given the number 1564. Fitted with a B4 type boiler in May 1925 and received an enclosed cab by 1927. Withdrawal took place in February 1931. Interestingly, locos 1561 - 1580 were built as Broad Gauge Convertables and ran as such until 1892 being rebuilt to Standard gauge in 1894. All were allocated to Newton Abbot or West of there and this ties in with the fact that this plate originated from the Truro area. Oval brass measuring approximately 12 x 7
