Worksplate BUILT 1952 CREWE. Locomotives built this year were BR Standard Class 7 4-6-2 70025-37 and Class 6 4-6-2 72002-9. However these carried 1951 plates. This plate is a Cowlairs replacement and after extensive research Clan 72009 Clan Stewart which had a heavy overhaul at Cowlairs in September 1962 and photographs show that the worksplates it emerged with are not standard Crewe pattern. Oval cast brass, face cleaned but with traces of original paint on the edges, measures 10.5in x 6in.
