Southern Railway Morse Tappers, a pair. One bears an ivorine plate EXETER 'A', the other PINHOE. Brass construction and mounted on mahogany, these were used in Exmouth Junction Signal Box by the lone signalman to save rushing from one end of the box to the other at busy periods. Each of these keys was wired in parallel to its appropriate Block Bell and affixed at opposite ends. This allowed the signalman to acknowledge bell codes from the up when he was at the down end of the box and vice versa of course. Quite delightful and both ex box condition.
