Smokebox Numberplate 90538. Ex WD 2-8-0 Austerity Locomotive introduced in 1943 with the original number of 77068 and purchased from the War Department by British Railways in 1948. Originally allocated to 36B Mexborough but by 1953 it was firmly entrenched at 36A Doncaster where it remained right up until withdrawal in April 1966. It was stored at Doncaster until September of that year and then cut up at Drapers before the year end. Very scarce Doncaster casting, it is in stunning ex loco condition, oozing with the smoke steam and grime of the dirty, yet somehow quite wonderful, locomotive shed.
