Shedplate 51L Thornaby until 1973. This purpose built BR shed inherited the steam allocation of 110 locos from the redundant sheds at Middlesborough and Newport. Most of its Diesel allocation carried this code and this is one and although this is face restored there are traces of BR green paint on the back indicating this is from a Diesel locomotive.
