Royal Navy Ships Plaque HMS BRISSENDEN together with the original plaque presented by the People Of Barnes to HMS Brissenden to commemorate the adoption of the ship during Warship Week, March 1942. A wonderful, wartime artefact of great historic interest. HMS Brissenden was a Hunt Class, Type IV Destroyer laid down on 28th Feb 1941 and commissioned in Feb 1943 as L.79. The ship saw action during the 'D' day landings and later in the 'Battle of the Scillies' against German 'E' Boats. She was scrapped at Dalmuir in March 1963.
