North Eastern Railway 12in oak cased drop dial railway clock with a chain driven fusee movement. Supplied to the NER circa 1880 probably by Reid & Sons of Newcastle. The dial has been repainted in the late 1960's by Eastern region clock workshops at Doncaster and now has Arabic numerals and B.R. 5880 and the case is in good condition. The LNER clock records confirm that clock No 5880 was last in use at Shildon YM & SM office and was previously NER clock no 252. A nice 19th century timepiece in working condition complete with pendulum and key.
