Nameplate WINDWARD ISLANDS ex LMS Stanier Jubilee 4-6-0 built at Crewe in 1934 and numbered LMS 5637 and BR 45637. Allocated to Sheffield, Crewe North and 8A Edge Hill where it was shedded when involved in Britains worst peacetime railway disaster at Harrow & Wealdstone station on 8th October 1952 involving three trains, one a Euston to Liverpool express double headed by Princess Royal No 46202 piloted by 45637. Both engines were damaged beyond repair and 45637 was cut up at Crewe Works by 23 January 1953. In original condition, rear with two dots indicating this is the right hand side, the other side resides in the Doncaster Grammar School collection. The plate comes with an official copy of Ministry of Transport report into the collision and a hardback book by LFE Coombs about the disaster.
