Nameplate TAUNTON CASTLE together with the matching cast brass Cabside Numberplate 7036. Ex GWR design, BR 'Castle, Class Locomotive, built Swindon in August 1950 being the penultimate Castle to be built. Allocated to Old Oak Common it was fitted with a double chimney in 1959 only to last a further 4 years, withdrawal coming in September 1963 from Old Oak Common. One of the few Castle Class plates to be half beaded and both Nameplate and Cabside are in ex loco condition. They were purchased from Swindon shortly after withdrawal and have been in the Vendors possession since then. A unique opportunity to purchase the very last Castle nameplate ever likely to come to market because both plates from 7037 Swindon are in the National Collection.
