Nameplate ST SIMON, ex LNER A3 Class Locomotive built Doncaster in September 1923 under Works Number 1573. Originally numbered 4481 and then, in January 1946, was numbered 511. Just 4 months later became number 112 and finally 60112 in March 1949 under the BR regime. Allocated new to Doncaster and shuffled between there and Grantham until, during the War, had a spell at Copley Hill. Final depot was Kings Cross and withdrawal came in December 1964. Note: St Simon was the winner of the 1884 Ascot Gold Cup under the ownership of the Duke of Portland.
