Nameplate THE SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT, ex LMS Royal Scot Class 6P/7P 4-6-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co as Works No 23638 in October 1927 and numbered LMS 6143 and BR 46143. Originally named Mail and renamed in July 1934 after the infantry regiment. Allocated to Crewe North, Edge Hill, Bushbury, Polmadie, Longsight, Trafford Park and lastly 16D Annesley working expresses on the Great Central main line. Withdrawn from Annesley in December 1963 and scrapped at Crewe Works. Cast brass face restored.
