Nameplate SIR RONALD MATTHEWS ex LNER Gresley A4 Class 4-6-2 built at Doncaster in 1938 as works number 1873 and numbered LNER 4500, 1 and BR 60001. Originally named Garganey and renamed Sir Ronald Matthews in 1939. Allocated new to 52A Gateshead where it spent all of its working life and was withdrawn from there in October 1964 and scrapped at Hughes Bolckows (North Blyth). Face restored measures 96in x 7.5in.
