Nameplate LYDFORD CASTLE ex GWR Collett Castle 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1946. The plate was originally fitted to Castle Class number 5055 which later became Earl Of Eldon. Allocated to Shrewsbury, Cardiff Canton, Swindon, Gloucester Horton Road, Old Oak Common, Laira, Worcester and withdrawn from 81A Old Oak Common in December 1963 and scrapped at Birds Risca. Face restored long ago, rear original and bearing the stampings LIN No 5055 Lot 303 L7006 which confirms this is the left hand plate.
