Nameplate KINGFISHER from the LNER Gresley A4 Pacific 4-6-2 LNER No 4483 & 24 and BR No 60024. Built at Doncaster works in December 1936 as works number 1848. Allocated initially to Haymarket and then Kings Cross, Haymarket, Doncaster, Dalry Road, St Margarets and finally to 61B Aberdeen Ferryhill from where it was withdrawn in September 1966 and became the last A4 to operate a British railway revenue earning service and was scrapped at Hughes Bolckow Blyth in February 1967. Face restored a long time ago. A rare change to obtain a long Bird A4. Neither nameplate has ever appeared publicly for sale before, but we sold one of the Kingfisher badges in our November 2007 auction. All the proceeds from this lot will be going to the Kingfisher Primary School in Doncaster and will be used to help with the Renovation of the Hepworth building at the school which will become a community family learning facility for both Children and Parents.
