WE AUCTION LOCOMOTIVE NAMEPLATES & WORKSPLATES, STATION TOTEM SIGNS, POSTERS & ADVERTISING SIGNS PLUS MUCH MORE....

Nameplate, GREAT EASTERN with original Crest above. Ex BR built 4-6-2 Pacific Class A1 Locomotive number 60157, built under Works number 2051 at Doncaster works in November 1949. Shopped out in BR blue livery, it was repainted in BR green and nameplates applied 2 years later. Because the name of this loco and also North British, Great Northern, North Eastern and Great Central were constituents of the LNER, it was decided to fit modified nameplates able to carry a circular steel crest above the name. Initially allocated to Kings Cross, it wasn't long before a move to Grantham ensued. Later years saw the allocation change to Doncaster and withdrawal finally came in January 1965. The plate is in excellent condition and the crest too is superb. Hand painted on the back, just visible beneath the patina is 'Left Hand'. Possibly face restored a long time ago. Stamped in one end two other class members being North British, Great Central and Great Eastern itself. The matching Worksplate is in the following lot.
