Nameplate COUNTY OF MERSEYSIDE. Ex BR/EE 25kv Bo-Bo Class 86 originally numbered E3161. Built by the English Electric Co under works number E3453/E299 in October 1965. Renumbered 86249 under TOPS in April 1974 and was named on the 7th September 1981 by Councillor W. Wiseman, Chairman of Merseyside Council at Liverpool Lime Street Station. Withdrawn from service in October 2003 and scrapped in 2005 at JT Landscapes, MOD Caerwent. This plate is a Swindon casting. Note: The other side was sold in our May 2009 auction.
