Nameplate COSSACK - WARSHIP CLASS, ex British Railways Type 4 A1A-A1A Diesel Hydraulic Warship Class Locomotive number D604, built by the North British Locomotive Company Glasgow under works number 27664. Last of only five built for the Western Region and designated Class 41 to work crack expresses to and from the West. Delivered in January 1959 to Laira, it spent most of its working life there, primarily on passenger workings but later on China Clay trains. A class 37 shortage at Landore saw a brief spell there near withdrawal, that being in December 1967 from Laira. Although the last one built, it was the first to be cut up at Cashmores, Newport in September 1968. Cast aluminium measuring 33
