Nameplate CLIFTON HALL. Ex GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 locomotive, built Swindon Works in February 1931 under Lot No. 268. Allocated initially to Penzance and then in 1950, moved to Bristol St Philip's Marsh. A spell at Severn Tunnel Junction and Pontypool Road through the 1950's saw a transfer to the Midlands and a turn at Wolverhampton. Finally spent a couple of years at Hereford before withdrawal in April 1962 when it was despatched to Swindon for cutting up. Stamped in the rear with the letter 'R' indicating the right side plate and also the loco number 4990 and the Lot No. Purchased from The Roundhouse Harrow in the 1960's by the vendor. Face looks to have been restored after removal, back ex loco with the detailed stamping exposed. Note: Clifton Hall overlooks the river Trent near Nottingham.
