Nameplate ARGYLLSHIRE ex LNER Gresley D49 4-4-0 built at Darlington in 1928 as works number 1387 and numbered LNER 270, 2708 and BR 62708. Allocated to Thornton Junction from where it was withdrawn in May 1959 and scrapped. Curved cast brass nicely face restored. The first time either plate has been offered for sale at auction.
