Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire mahogany cased 12 inch Convex dial fusee railway dial clock with a spun brass bezel and rectangular plated chain driven English fusee with shaped shoulders and fitted to the dial by means of a false plate. Supplied to the MS&L in 1848 by Isaac Simmons of Manchester. The restored original convex dial is lettered I.Simmons 227 St. Anne's Sqr Manchester and visible as ghosted writing is LNER 8229, the rear of the dial stamped Wright B'Ham and is painted BR(E) 8229. The mahogany case is in nicely restored condition with two sides doors and a bottom door secured with a brass turn. The LNER clock records show this clock as last in use at Moortown Station Office which was on the line between Barnetby and Lincoln and opened in 1848 which ties in with this clocks date. In working condition but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key and a detailed information sheet from Dr D.R. Parr who carried out the clocks restoration and a copy of the LNER Clock record. A superb railway timepiece and certainly one of the earliest to come onto the market.
