London and South Western Railway 8 inch Mahogany cased iron dial fusee clock with a cast brass bezel supplied to the LSWR circa 1870 by John Gaydon of Barnstaple. The English fusee movement with rectangular plates held together by turned tapered pillars has been recently overhauled and the white enamel painted dial lettered BR(S) John Walker 1 South Molton St London 5SW is in original condition complete with very unusual blued steel shaped spade hands which are also original to the clock. The Mahogany case is in original condition and stamped in the back 5SW. The Southern Railway clock records show that it was last in use at Barnstaple Junction B Box (West Signal Box). Complete and in working condition with pendulum and key. This is the only LSWR clock supplied by Gaydon of this type so far to surface and is of significant importance.
