London & North Western Railway historical, World War I, handwritten letter from G.H. Claughton, Chairman of the LNWR to G. Hughes, ex LYR Engineer, then destined to become Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LNWR. The letter, dated Oct 9th 1919, expresses the feeling and gratitude of Claughton through the then Strike and aftermath of the War. A quite moving letter written and signed by this famous Railwayman. Loose mounted under polythene to protect whilst displayed today.
