Locomotive Nameplate QUEEN ALEXANDRA. Ex Belfast and Northern Counties Railway (later Midland/LMS Northern Counties Committee) Class A 4-4-0 No. 34 which was completed in April 1901 at York Road Works, Belfast (progressive number 4) . It was rebuilt to a simple in April 1928 and reclassified A1 only to be renamed Knocklayd and withdrawn from service in October 1950. In November 1932, the name Queen Alexandra, together with the original nameplates, was transferred to another Class A 4-4-0 No. 63 (built Derby in 1905). This was rebuilt at York Road in January 1936 (progressive number 30) and reclassified U2. It was also renumbered 87. Withdrawal came in August 1957. Curved brass construction, 44 across and in ex loco condition. Note: A wonderful photograph taken by H.C.
