LNER fully titled, engraved oval brass Worksplate No 1597 Doncaster 1924. Ex J50/2 0-6-0T, originally numbered 3239 then 8938 in 1946 and finally 68938 by British Railways. Allocated throughout its life at Ardsley and withdrawn from there in October 1959. The plate is clearly stamped on the rear rim '3239' and on the rear , lower centre, oddly '8939'. Either the works apprentice used the wrong stamps or it may have been mixed up and applied to a sister engine.
