LNER 9 x 5 Brass Strip number 62718. Ex LNER D49 Class 4-4-0 Locomotive, built Darlington in May 1928 and originally numbered 310 and named KINROSS-SHIRE. In 1946, received the number 2718 and later the BR number 62718 when this plate would have been added to the 9 x 5 works numberplate. Allocated to Dundee Tay Bridge, it was withdrawn in March 1961. Unfortunately the plate was prised from the 9 x 5 whilst still on the loco so both ends are broken across the bolt holes. But, it is exactly what it is and certainly a rare survivor
