LMS Hawkseye Station Sign UPTON-ON-SEVERN. Ex Midland Railway station on the Ashchurch to Malvern branch which was built by the Tewkesbury & Malvern Railway Company opening in July 1862. Originally named just 'Upton' and re-named to 'Upton-On-Severn' in April 1889. A wonderful, rural route, it closed forever in August 1961, only seeing heavy traffic once, in January 1929 when it was used as a diversionary route after an accident on the main line near Ashchurch. Arguably the nicest named Hawkseye possible.
