Industrial Locomotive Nameplate WARDLEY. Ex Sharp Stewart 3423/1888 was a long boilered 0-6-0 ST which was manufactured against Order No. 918 for Bridgewater Collieries Ltd (later Manchester Collieries Ltd) at Wardley. By 1928 it could be found at Brackley Colliery and in June 1946 at Sandhole Colliery. Circa 1950 it took up residence at Walkden Workshops where it languished until broken up there in June 1953. A very interesting plate, the letters are riveted to a steel backplate and is believed to have been constructed so by the colliery.
