GWR brass cabside numberplate 4084 ex Collett Castle Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1925 and named ABERYSTWYTH CASTLE. Allocated to Laira, Newton Abbot, Old Oak Common, Weston-Super-Mare, Bristol Bath Road, Reading and 86C Cardiff Canton from where it was withdrawn in October 1960. Scrapped two months later at Swindon. Partially face restored, with boiler and Class stampings in the rim, rear original.
Cabside Numberplates Sold for: £1,900Flamecut cabside panel 33034 ex British Railways Diesel locomotive built by built by BRCW in 1961 as works number DEL 144 and originally numbered D6552. Allocated new to 73C Hither Green and withdrawn from Eastleigh in 1988. Sold into preservation and eventually moved to the Swanage railway in 2001 and in 2007 a decision was taken to strip the loco of re-usable components and scrap the body shell. In good condition and all angle removed. Measures 30in x 12.5in.
Cabside Numberplates Sold for: £240GWR brass cabside numberplate 2825 ex Churchward 2-8-0 built at Swindon in 1907. Allocated to Oxley, Reading, Worcester, Chester West and 86G Pontypool Road from where it was withdrawn in April 1959 and scrapped. Face restored with clear Class and boiler stampings in the rim.
Cabside Numberplates Sold for: £750Smokebox numberplate 31184 ex SECR Wainwright H class 0-4-4T built at Ashford in 1915 and originally numbered SECR 305 and SR 1305. Allocated to Stewarts Lane and 74D Tonbridge from where it was withdrawn in March 1958 and scrapped at Ashford Works. Face restored with the B and BR(S) Eastleigh casting mark in the back.
Smokebox Numberplates Sold for: £550Smokebox numberplate 4095 ex GWR Collett Castle 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1925 and named HARLECH CASTLE. Allocated to Laira, Newton Abbot, Landore, Banbury, Penzance, Taunton and 81D Reading from where it was withdrawn in December 1962 and scrapped at R A Kings (Norwich). Face lightly restored.
Smokebox Numberplates Sold for: £2,000Nameplate KING EDWARD VII ex Great Central Railway Robinson C5 4-4-2 built at Gorton in 1906 and numbered GCR 259 and LNER 5259 and 2896. Allocated to Leicester, Lincoln and withdrawn from Immingham in April 1947 and scrapped at Gorton works. Curved brass complete with the whole of the splasher mounting which is rare for this type of plate as most have been cut down for display. A black and white framed photograph of the locomotive accompanies the lot clearly showing the nameplate.
Nameplates Steam Sold for: £3,900Great Northern Railway 3 Aspect large pattern double pie crust Handlamp brass plated GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY COMPANY CHAUL END NO 1. Stamped in the reducing cone GNER /92 13705 and stamped in the side GNR 13705 Complete with all glasses, original fixed reservoir and burner. In good original condition. Chaul End was a temporary railway halt on the Great Northern Railway's branch line from Welwyn which served a munitions factory near Luton during the First World War.
Handlamps Sold for: £100GWR cast iron cabside numberplate 3643 ex Collett 0-6-0 PT built at Swindon in 1939. Allocated to St Phillips Marsh, Weymouth, Bristol Barrow Road and 85B Gloucester Horton Road from where it was withdrawn in September 1965 and scrapped. Partially face restored.
Cabside Numberplates Sold for: £300BR(M) FF enamel station sign NO SMOKING with British Railways totem at the top. In excellent condition with one minor chip repair. Measures 24in x 12in.
Enamel Signs Railway Sold for: £250British Railways station platform sign BESCOT STADIUM. Screen printed aluminium, in good ex station condition, measures 52.5in x 10in.
LT / Modern Image Sold for: £100Worksplate W. G. BAGNALL LTD ENGINEERS STAFFORD ENGLAND No 2907 1949 ex 0-4-0ST. Supplied new to Staveley Iron & Chemical Co Staveley Works and named D.N.T. after the chairman David Neville Turner. Oval cast brass, in lightly face restored condition, measures 11.75in x 7in.
Worksplates Steam Sold for: £250Shedplate 88A Cardiff Cathays 1949-December 1957, then Cardiff Radyr December 1957-October 1960, then Cardiff Canton October 1960-September 1962. The ex TVR shed at Cathays had an allocation of 80 locos, while ex GWR shed Radyr had 55 locos during this period. Ex GWR Canton
Shedplates / Plaques Sold for: £120GWR Carriage Panel from QUEEN VICTORIA'S DIAMOND JUBILEE ROYAL TRAIN, built at Swindon in 1897. It contains its original colour-tinted photograph on glass, produced by the Photocrom Company, of ILFRACOMBE [DEVON]. Thought to have been the only royal train to be embellished with scenic views, this magnificent panel has its original glazed frame ornately crafted in sycamore and walnut hardwoods and gilded hardwood insets and surrounds. The hand-painted title recessed into a gilded frame. Originally from coach 233 which now resides in Swindon STEAM museum. In excellent condition measures 16in x 11in. A superb and choice item.
