GWR Brass 7 ships type clock ex Fishguard Harbour Master. This is a stunning and so far unique example of a GWR Marine type clock. The movement is of the best quality with a chain driven fusee and superb platform escapement, with the original dial bearing the legend GWR in the pregrouping style and in ghosted writing the makers name of H.Hughes & Son Ltd, 59 Fenchurch St, London can clearly be seen , this maker is associated with the supply of top quality Marine chronometers and instruments and this clock doesn't disappoint. On the rear of the case is affixed the clocks Ivorine plate bearing the number 2738 there is also a scratched date of 1881. A photograph of the movement accompanies the lot.
