GWR 12in dial mahogany cased railway clock with a spun brass bezel and a wire driven fusee movement with rectangular plates with shaped shoulders stamped W&H SCH which stands for Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach Germany. The original dial is lettered G.W.R and barely visible is SPIRDION below the winding hole and the rear is chalked with the clock number 2516. The case has one side door and a bottom door secured with a brass turn and unfortunately the ivorine numberplate is missing but there is clear evidence on the left hand side of the back box where it was originally located. In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum and key. Circa 1890. Spiridion were based in Cardiff and supplied some of the Welsh pre grouping companies including the Rhymney and Cardiff Railways.
