Great Western Railway /Neath & Brecon Railway 12 inch drop dial fusee Trunk Clock supplied to the Railway circa 1850-1860 ex Nantyglo. The case is made from mahogany with a wonderful, flame mahogany veneer to the front and filled in curved bow tie lenticle window, this was probably done when it was numbered (see below). The fine brass fusee movement in fully restored and in full working condition has very early shaped shoulders and tapered ringed pillars and is stamped 8488 and scratched 446 on the backplate, the movement characteristics point to a movement of the period 1850-1860. The dial has been repainted by the GWR probably in 1922 when the clock acquired its GWR numberplate 446 and possibly the standard GWR broad spade hands. This clock number is mentioned in Ian Lyman
