Great Western Railway Indenture dated 1st October 1877 and signed in person by William Dean who at the time was Superintendent of the Locomotive & Carriage Departments of the Company. This wonderful, historic document was raised for a 14 year old, Walter Oakford, for a 7 year apprentiship in the art of Coach Finishing. Signed also by his father, Charles Romain Oakford. The front cover details the daily wage laid out for seven years starting at 10d per day rising after 7 years to 2/8d. Thick parchment paper with official Two Shillings and Sixpence Victoria Crown embossed stamp.
